Droid 2 Global ROOT, CUSTOM RECOVERY & SIM UNLOCK Tutorial

I'm running z4root on my Droid2Global and it went about 5 minutes so I ended it and ran it again. It is now 5 minutes in again and still says 'running exploit in order to obtain root access' so I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

It's also FC'ing all over the place now and running very slow.

I assume you tried rebooting and then running z4root again?

Indeed I did, just noticed my battery was low so I'll try again when its charged.

You might also try reinstalling z4root. If things get really bad, you can also SBF back to the stock with RSDLite

luckily after rebooting z4root worked. But now I flashed heXen ROM and I'm stuck at the red 'X' screen and it wont go on from there, any ideas?

Has anybody found a work around to the GSM bands that Verizon has locked?

Would be good to find a post that actually describes how to root a Droid 2 Global! The process described in the beginning of this thread apparently does not work for many users, judging by all the threads I have seen. I have had a similar experience with the Z4mod. After enabling Unknown Applications and USB Debugging and running Z4, the Z4 app stalls. Then pull the battery and reboot and run Z4 again and after a couple mins it says it is looking for the root shell, then quits with no error messages. I check and I am still not rooted. I have repeated this process several times.

Some threads say the Droid 2 Global can only be rooted by Z4 in 'phone mode', but do not describe this procedure. Can anybody post a procedure that will work?

I don't have an answer but let me know if it works. I have considered leaving Verizon and metro is one of my options.

Dumped Z4, Used One-Click-Root

Finally gave up trying to get Z4 to work. Search for Pete's Motorola-One-Click-Root. It does the trick!

Sorry about that. I haven't updated this thread in ages. I added Pete's method to the original post in case anyone else has trouble with the z4root method.

Now that Gingerbread is pushed to the D2G, you might want to update with saying that Z4root doesn't work with GB, use Pete's method.
