Droid Bionic heading towards Verizon

I think it will be a little faster.but it all depends on how fast the 4g network will be which I think it will be. Dual core will make it less choppy.

Dual Core will effect the overall speed of the phone the 4g will be what helps boost the streaming speed. Hopefully with dual core the days of redraw and lag will be a thing of the past.

Does anybody know if the Bionic will have NFC. I know its not really being used in a lot of places yet but it would be nice to have. Especially since I think I will have this phone for at least 2 years.

Also I think we will notice a great increase in battery life because of the dual core processors. There will be two processors to execute tasks which should put less of a drain on the phone. I think this was one of the things that Moto was trying to accomplish. I really am getting tired of having to plug my phone in everyday.

No one mentioned it for any phone (that I heard), so I'd assume no. However, it seems the main manufacturer of LTE SIM cards is trying to build it into the SIM card, so it may be something you can add later on. Either way, I doubt you'll get to use NFC during the lifetime of any of these devices (unless you live in Portland or travel to Asia).

Right, but inadequate ram is also a cause of redraw and lag. And that's why so many people are upset with 512 because they no that will quickly become inadequate, especially as apps start to take advantage of the dual core.

It's not like app and OS demands are going to remain constant while ram grows. And the simple fact is the OG Droid should have launched with 512. These phones should all be coming out with 768 at a minimum.

What I expect to happen phone release wise:

CDMA iPhone 4 early February around the time of the Super Bowl

HTC Thunderbolt in March, because it will be th first LTE phone

Motorola Bionic in April.... About the time I'll be getting a new phone

Anybody see the presser for the VZW event on Tues. in NYC? Speculation as to what it could be? (1) LTE pricing announcement, (2) Android phone release date announcement(s), (3) iphone announcement, (4) nothing worthwhile at all...

Most likely thing is the Iphone announcement. They wouldn't set up an event just to announcement Android phone release dates or pricing, just a week after CES. This is conjunction with news that Apple employees have a vacation blackout during the late jan/early february time frame, sets this announcement up for the perfect time.

yeah but VZW would never overshadow CES with an iPhone unveiling. Also, the Thunderbolt is the FIRST LTE device, its a big thing for them...er rather their marketing department. I think its the Thunderbolt + LTE pricing.

Why would VZW wait just a week after the biggest electronics event, to set up another event just to announce the THunderbolt's pricing and release date, when they had such a huge stage to do it on during CES?

Truth is its probably the iPhone. Android will be second priority with Verizon. Shame - Verizon/Motorola/Google combination was the best thing to ever happen. Now its all about Apple and Verizon is their little puppet from what we're already seeing.

What's sad is that I would like Apple if they just didn't seem so cocky about their products and price them so high for what I consider lack-luster features.

I mean what they do on their products they do very well I think but it seems to me that you pay a high price only to be trendy and miss features that are readily available elsewhere.

I just still have a taste in my mouth from looking at their ipods and prices when you could get more storage and generally the same abilities for half the price somewhere else, but the other place just had maybe not as petty of a look.

Just my own feelings on it. I would also hate to see Verizon's service, plans, pricing, and Android relationship go down hill for an Apple product.
Regards,
Brandon

Simple.

There was more than one phone manufacturer on stage with Verizon. They don't want to make them made. Corporate politics.

And HTC is making no secret of the fact that it is releasing the first 4g phone for Verizon, so a separate product launch would make sense.
