Droid Razr Maxx HD waiting lounge.

I agree same can be said for droid 3 and 4 owners unless moto put out this specs:

12 megapixes(maybe 2013)
Quad core processor(2013) for sure
Android 5.0 os or 6.0 os(2013 or 2014 for 6.0 os
350 ppi (idk about this one)
4 gb of ram(2013)
3.0 megapixes on front face camera(maybe 2.0 megapixes on galaxy s2 and s3 so making assumption that 3 will be the 2013 phones. High end at least

So after making a trip into town today I thought well I'll stop in VZW and check it out.

My thoughts

I know its been said and I'll say it again for those interested. If u currently have a Razr, Maxx, or Bionic then upgrading to the HD is pointless if u ask me. Only major difference is the screen. I didn't feel the phone to be much faster then my Bionic and to much of it looks the same to even thank about dropping $700 on it. I didn't like how the left hand swipe brings up the quick settings

It did however have awesome build quality and the screen did look sharp. That's just my thoughts.

I'd rather they used a high quality 8MP bsi sensor, or better yet a 6MP one than 12MP. The glass won't allow for such fine detail on per pixel basis so why reduce the sensor size and capture less light? Makes no sense except to stay on par with competition on a spec sheet.

amen... we want performance... not numbers

Agreed! You can have a 12 mp POC. Or a 2 mp great camera. Mps don't make the picture. Sensor tech does. As soon as the manufacturers realize that the better. Samsung and the GS3 did it right. But lacked behind in the cellular radio, battery, rear speaker quality. Where Motorola excels in. So they both have strengths and weaknesses.

Well the Note 2 is already been improved. Huge 3100mah battery everyone says its awesome. Without LTE I've seen as much as 10hrs of onscreen time. It was barely loosing to the Maxx in tests that had nothing to do with LTE like watching movies through a endurance test.

The rear speaker has been tested and has one of the loudest, clearest sounding on the market.

Hard to tell about signal as it will be their first quad core with LTE.

What Moto has been lacking in is screen, camera, and performance which the Note 2 has all that as well.

+1 that note 2 is beast

I was browsing the s3 forums and I don't see any complaints about the radios

I'm sure the moto takes OK pictures if u sit there a few mins and tinker w different settings or camera apps but at the end of the day u want a fast camera that automatically takes great pics and moto is behind in that category

I did a side by side comparison and the hd was 18 mbs faster download than the s3. I couldn't check the dbm bc the hd wasn't activated

if it sucks that bad I'm sure we'd hear plenty of complaints about it... I've compared one with my bionic and although I pulled higher numbers the s3 loaded pages faster

They both loaded about the same there wasn't a clear winner most of the time

apps are the only large files I download so 2 or 3 seconds is hardly noticeable.. as long as its on vze lte its plenty fast... its 3g or complete data drops that are concerns and I don't see those with either phone

My personal opinion when it comes to speed tests I just thank its hard to get a accurate reading. Even on a galaxy nexus that gets horrible signal I've beat one out plenty of times and then it will beat me out plenty of times. Its all in whoever is connected to the server the best with lower ping rate.

Also to be noted cause this seems to come off from signal issues. Signal doesn't neccesairly have anything to do with speed. Someone with 2 bars of 4G can have as fast as connection with someone that has 4 bars of 4G. The bars is just whoever is connected the best to the network. No different then a router.

Again, it's my understanding, and I've asked some very knowledgeable people, that for the time being NO standard moto phone moving forward will be root able. Dan R. has been the driving force behind this part, and it appears he's either out, states it can't be done, or something to that effect. I might be way off on this, but people do need to be aware things are changing drastically from how they were 6 months to 2 years ago. I just think people will have to start really digging in/studying future purchases versus presuming everything is a forgone conclusion.

Well rooting is an exploit employed by hackers to get around security. If they make an "unrootable" phone it'll only be a matter of time before someone cracks the system. Really there's no such thing as a unrootable device in my opinion. They can increase security and make it more difficult to root. But in the end even the most secure systems can be cracked with enough time and effort.

Do I believe that Motorola would try to block exploits? Yes. Can they block them 100%? No.
