Droid Razr Maxx HD waiting lounge.

Unless I missed something I noticed both the razr m and razr m developer edition still has not been rooted.

No you're right. Even the developer version doesn't come with an unlocked bootloader. On Motorola's site they use the word "unlockable" or something similar, suggesting that the developer edition will have to be unlocked by the end user.

My understanding is only the dev editions will even be rootable, let alone give you the option to unlock bootloader. I'm more concerned about root for the time being.

Well there'll always be a healthy hacking community looking for ways to root phonesand unlock their bootloaders. But it seems that moving forward developer editions are meant to make the process easier with officially sanctioned tools provided by the OEM.

Will we have to wait til Thursday before we see some youtube reviews? Don't those guys get phones early?

Again, it's my understanding, and I've asked some very knowledgeable people, that for the time being NO standard moto phone moving forward will be root able. Dan R. has been the driving force behind this part, and it appears he's either out, states it can't be done, or something to that effect. I might be way off on this, but people do need to be aware things are changing drastically from how they were 6 months to 2 years ago. I just think people will have to start really digging in/studying future purchases versus presuming everything is a forgone conclusion.

we will find out if you are right milski65. On 10/18 I will be at the store playing with the razr maxx hd. But Highly doubt I will buy it. Waiting for the note 2.

Yeah I'm with you man.. I'll be right there too... wanna form a note2 support group?? So neither of us is weak and buys an hdmaxx?

It will be a little easier since the razr maxx hd has not been rooted yet and the first thing I do when I buy a phone sadly is to root it.

Yep. I just left verizon and after playing with big boy phones like the s3 and og maxx that icrap5 is a joke. The sales rep was completely uninformed he had no idea that verizon would get the note 2
