Well, the software really comes from Google, it may be modified by Verizon and or Motorola. I don't know why you think it sucks if you have an X, that's a decent phone. I don't want to go off topic so if you're having issues with it maybe you can start or find a thread on it in the Droid X area here in the Forum.

I have had my RAZR since November. I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. Right now my battery is at 50% and it has been unplugged for 19 hrs now. The only time it got warm was when I was tethering for a long period of time. I'm getting tired of people slamming the RAZR when they don't make the effort to charge it or take care of it properly. I see to many people spend a bunch of money on a phone and just toss it around. If you want a phone to toss around get a Nokia 5190

Dude, what are you doing to get that battery life out of your phone?? I don't think there's anything I could do to even get 16 hours of battery.

Every weekday morning I get up and unplug my phone at 4:30AM. I always have wifi off, bluetooth off, and GPS off. I even go to the extent of turning off all data/phone service and then turning it back on every 2 hours to see if I get any messages or voicemails. By the time 7:00PM rolls around, the battery is less than 10% left. My battery is lasting about 15 hours with NO USE AT ALL.

For some reason "Android OS" is eating my battery alive (like 60%-70%).

Motorola still makes motoblur, so they still make the software that you're seeing, it's just based off of android's platform.

Take it back if you are within your 2 weeks. No use keeping a phone you don't like.

What are the consequences if you take it back?

If you bought it with upgrade pricing, do you "get back" your ability to buy a different handset at upgrade prices? Are you still held to the terms of the 2-year contract you signed in order to get the Razr at upgrade pricing? If you then go back to your previous phone (until buying a different phone), is there a charge for doing so?

Thanks!

Larry

If you're within 14 days you can swap it for another phone for the same price, or pay the difference. You still receive the upgrade price for the new phone.

If you just return the phone, you may have to pay a $30 return fee, not 100% sure. I imagine once you sign the contract, you're in the new contract.

I don't know why everyone is always excited to get the 'latest and greatest' because oftentimes the 'latest and greatest' isn't ready for prime time. Sure, I would like improvements, but I'm content to let others work the bugs out before ICS gets released. The Razr/Maxx works great as is. YMMV

My Samsung Fascinate and my Acer A-500 are both running ICS without issues. If the community can make ICS work on an older phone with little or no bugs, why can't the manufacture do the same?

If you want an electronic device with a long battery life, try a Kindle. The battery will last for WEEKS!! However, you won't be able to send texts and make phone calls, etc. but the battery lasts FOREVER and it's great for reading books! ;)

The thing that gets me when people start whining about battery life is this is a phone and a computer all in a pocket size device. People want to use it none stop and get 3 days use out of it.. NOT going to happen! Honestly anything over 12hrs is great battery life to me. If you want such great battery life then go back to the good old texting only cell phones. Heck my Maxx just died but I am not that upset stuff happens.

I love my RAZR! I used to have major issues with the battery. I carried my charger were ever I went. For the first few months I averaged about 7 hours with heavy data usage. Then I decided to learn smart actions and it has TRIPLED my battery life. This thing really is a beast.

I don't ask for spectacular battery on my phones, but it's hard to deny that this phone is a step back in battery length. When I had my original Droid, I would unplug it at 4:30AM one day and it would last with light/moderate use until about 5:00PM the next day. Now with my Razr, I unplug is at 4:30AM and by about 6:00-7:00PM it's turning itself off b/c it's out of battery. This is with VERY light/no use (wifi, 4G, GPS, and bluetooth turned off). I understand that it's been on for around 14 hours, but that's 14 hours with no use.

If it was lasting 12-14 hours with moderate-high use, then I would be happy. But 14 hours with no use is piss poor by any modern standards. My original Droid (which is now like 2 years old) was much better on battery. My Droid was far from a texting only cell phone and got WAY better life. I LOVE the Razr, but the battery life is terrible. I've had the phone for 3 weeks now and have yet to have it last a whole day (even w/out using it) w/out having to charge it at some point.

No smart actions, BT and GPS and all cellular data on, WIFI on. Normal RAZR, not a Maxx

usage:
WIFI 28%
