Droid update this morning

I have read this thread from start to finish this morning and there is one question I have. With this 2.1 update, does it include the flash or is that coming later? I have had this phone since mid Nov. I got the 2.0.1 update at the very end of Dec. I am trying to figure out all the features still and have only one complaint, no flash that a lot of sites use. So I am hoping the update comes with flash so I can view those sites.

Not be rude, but I have posted this link 3 times now "to this other ongoing thread" as most of these questions being currently asked on this thread have already been covered on the other concurrent thread. ... look at post 371.

I'm surprise the MODs have let this thread continue and thats why they try to shut down concurrent threads on the same subject as it doubles the work and the questions for everybody.

This is the problem with concurrent running threads... but here is the best info on the subject..... go to the last posts.

I appears you have to have the maintenance update, it is necessary, and we won't get 2.1 till the 22nd "if" we get it then.

When the update is downloaded it does absolutely nothing to your phone as its not even installed. At this point it’s only a patch thats required for the 2.1 to be rolled out. And I would be looking forward to seeing another update very shortly with part 2 of the patch and possibly release keys to get this update installed.

Seems our guys are in disagreeing to some degree.

I've been told just that it's a patch. It' is necessary and is installed. Unlike his article . I also saw a report of s user who was rooted before the patch and wasn't after the patch

.

If people would CORRECTLY root their device, and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.bak; the update would never MAKE it onto their device, and they wouldn't end up back to being non-rooted.

I've seen quite a few rooting tutorials that leave out this important step.

All reports that I've read that I personally find reliable state that Flash will not be part of the 2.1 update. If it were the Nexus One would already have it.

Flash has NEVER been an integral part of an OS, to the best of my knowledge. I'm pretty certain it will be an (optional) download from markerplace.

And make a rule against posting "In Ohio, no update yet" posts in it. :P
agreed, we should be mods

This is what I've heard also. It won't come with an OS update and probably won't come from Google/Moto/Verizon at all. They all worked with Adobe to make sure all was compatible but they aren't handling distribution. You will probably get it in the market or at Adobe's mobile site or something.

should everyone have gotten the update this morning or is it going to take a few days

It is being pushed at what seems to be a random rate to random phones. I personally got it. I have noticed no real differences. Not really that big of a deal. You are missing absolutely nothing by not having it. :P

God, nobody has any patience anymore. The earliest date mentioned for an update was the 22nd, so why does anyone expect anything before then? Especially a "pre-update" update that doesn't really do anything for the day-to-day use of the phone?

The way everyone is anxious for an update, you'd think we were talking about the BlackBerry Storm here.
