Nothing new with tricks for the droid.:icon_eek:haha oh well, back to my book.(The Lost Symbol) dont spoil it if you've read it! i just started. and also, is this so called prelude update more like a runner up beta? i read about it being immensely bigger than the OTA 2.0.1 update. but i guess we won't know until more people get updated...

I really don't think this precursor update is real because since the day two people got it I haven't heard of anyone else getting it. I still have my hopes up that Friday we will still get 2.1.

This is the problem with concurrent running threads... but here is the best info on the subject..... go to the last posts.

I appears you have to have the maintenance update, it is necessary, and we won't get 2.1 till the 22nd "if" we get it then.

When the update is downloaded it does absolutely nothing to your phone as its not even installed. At this point it’s only a patch thats required for the 2.1 to be rolled out. And I would be looking forward to seeing another update very shortly with part 2 of the patch and possibly release keys to get this update installed.

Seems our guys are in disagreeing to some degree.

I've been told just that it's a patch. It' is necessary and is installed. Unlike his article . I also saw a report of s user who was rooted before the patch and wasn't after the patch

I'm really not buying that the "patch" a very few people recieved is necessary at all. seems more like an erroneous upload that went out accidentally.

We're still 2 days away from the original date of 1/22.. have patience

I hope we get this on Friday. But even more than that I really hope Motorola and even Google contiue to support this phone. IPhone is much more slick IMO but it has been out for years. I look forward to the day when I can show off my droid without lags, forced closes, camera taking crappy pictures five seconds after I push the button, and apps just straight up not working. I know that's part of being a Droid owner right now. I think it's unexcuseable but that is for another thread. With these updates I hope that this phone will continue to get better. Because I am not the kind that can run out and get the newest phone every time one comes out. I'll have this Droid until Jan 2012.
