This is exactly why i havent rooted my droid yet aside from the fact it voids the warranty. There is tons of drama that have to do with developers and too much competition which makes for a good product but a worse experience.

The 2 i was looking at were Cyanogen and Ultimate Droid and the drama between the 2 has just caused me to go the opposite direction and stay stock.

I too am stock at the moment.. Just to see what the 2.1 update stock was all about, but i will be going back to the ROOT/ADMIN.. i miss having total control over my OS.. Plus most roms out there run faster smother, just a better experience over all...

There always been drama around Black Droid, some of the newer members have no idea that he been through this drama before :icon_rolleyes:

Cmon Mix.... you are the only one being hurt by that choice. Remember when you wouldn't trust the 2.1 manual update? It turned out to work.... There are many of us who will also stand by the fact that when you finally choose your rom you will be happier than you are now on stock 2.1

The drama has nothing to do with it. The problem is that if you didn't want to load 2.1 manually, I doubt you will get past the RSD Lite back to 2.0.1 However if you ever decide to do it I would be very happy to help you.

You do realize that your traffic is going to drop considerably? What exactly did you solve? Most of your user base, me included, only came here for Ultimate Droid. While you have a nice site, there is nothing here of interest to me anymore.

You realize that a little over a month ago, BD was posting his ROMs on another forum. That forum banned him and is doing just fine without him. He comes here, and signs up, prior to that he didn't even show his face here. He signed up in March, so roughly 40 days he has been here. I realize his section was popular, and he was helpful as were a lot of his users, but that doesn't mean the site is going to die off.

Also know, that quite a few people also don't root that are a member of this forum, so his popularity is 30% of the rooters here.

I am just glad it is all over, well kinda at least haha. I laughed, I cried, I watched some NHL playoff hockey. Go Team Venture!

Any guess on how BD's departure will affect the reception your new rom receives?

I don't know, or care. I'm not expecting more, or less of a reception. A lot of the folks trying it now were previous fans of my work in windows mobile.

So, its not affected by this one way or another.

Count me as a former Omnia user. Been follong your work for a few years. I was happy to see u here.

people are still confusing roms and themes. a good rom isn't supposed to be all pretty, its supposed to work and to tell you the truth most major roms are all stable and "snapppppppy" everyone just has better luck with some. I wouldnt care if a rom came with new kids on block launcher(request) because the first thing i'm gonna do is apply REALigion and Xeudoxus' super wicked DarkEdge theme

Most true.

All this had me actually try Cyanogen's latest. .....oh my ...5.0.5.7 didnt agree with my phone. 5.0.6......wow, runs like butter. Maybe the slowness/hiccups/problems has to do with kernels too. Im using a bekit kernel on this one. Whatever Cyanogen did with his latest......nice. Now, I'm thinking about trying UD 10.0....

With a little bit of research you would have found that the problem was with Ultimate Droid and was easily fixable. Strange how people make such rash decisions and statements.

When you need your phone to work you need it to work. SP never let me down. With CW if may have been this, It may have been that. It's hear say. But I know what works for me and I'm sticking with it.

That's like blaming Ford for your car not running after you get a bad batch of gas.

If a ford wasnt running I'd know why it wasnt...because its a ford.

As per my posts..I never said it was Koush's fault. To sum it all up...My first experience with CW wasnt a good one. It doesnt matter what side the problem fell on. It just didnt work for me in my situation at the time.


And this is why there is all this going on. People nit pick peoples posts apart and read what they want to read and put their own little spin on what you said and then put you on the chopping block for something you didnt even say...That is where all the problems fester from...DF is a great place for info and help..You just gotta be careful to explain in detail or next thing you know the villagers are pillaging....

I saw the features in Cyanogens at some site first b4 I saw them in UD 10.0 . I made a post here about hoping to get Cyanogens's to run for the contacts and phone features. If I woulda known UD 10.0 was based that much off of 5.0.7, I woulda installed UD 10.0 already. I might dont have to know. I got to tho, I'm just a beta tester at heart....

Well this sucks. I switched to CM to wait for UD newest release and now this!

With BD it took me a few minutes to learn and load his ROMs. I tried CM today and damn near took all day to get my questions answered. But I guess that how things roll here with other devs....whatever

I still think EVERYONE needs to be here, or atleast in one general place! Anyone ever hear of the term "I agree to disagree"?? All Devs for the android experience need to have a common place, a place where the average user can find info, answers, new stuff.... etc!!! It would be what Android is all about! open/for the people..

As per my posts..I never said it was Koush's fault. To sum it all up...My first experience with CW wasnt a good one. It doesnt matter what side the problem fell on. It just didnt work for me in my situation at the time.

Fair enough. FYI, I was very upset over the RM problem. I called out Koush on it publicly one night. He patiently showed me the changelog and the code that caused the problem. The default setting for max string length should be 2048 and it was set to about 200 (I don't remember the exact length) then he showed me the code he changed.

He could have changed his code to check for all of the string lengths before invoking the bad code, but he shouldn't have to. So he added a mod (one that he really did not like) by setting the size to 500.
