DROIDX and DROID2 Finally Receive MIUI Ports!!

I'm having similar USB issues, but when it happens, I've found that unplugging it and plugging it back in again usually solves that problem.

I have the usb issue. I have to plug it in once, then pull it back out and plug it in again, then it will be detected

Hello all. I am new to this rom. I am currently running a DX on Liquid 2.4. I have thought about trying this rom out. I am seeing that there are problems with 1.7.29, I downloaded the 1.7.22 version, but have not flashed either one yet. If anyone can offer any advice on which one I should flash or any tips on installing or any thing I should NOT do, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I will add my experience but I know some have had different experiences. Version 22 was very stable and I had no issues. The only thing I am aware of that did not work was HDMI but I never use it so it was a non issue. However, while there weren't some noticeable upgrades that I like about 29, it had noire flaws for me than 22 so I flashed back.

With MIUI there is no app drawer so all your icons have to be on a screen, if you remove it from the screen, it gets uninstalled. The only work around was to place all your unwanted or un necessary icons in a folder to clear up space. For example, if you have a widget on a screen, why would you need the app icon too? With version 29 they add the ability to hide any icon toy want so it is not on your screen and bio need for a folder, plus you could set some apos to be password protected while others were not. I loved that feature. Also, I like the browser and changes to the camera in 29 over 22. So, why did I switch back?

With 29, i could not get mums and gtalk messages to have different ringtones which may not seen like a big deal but it annoyed me. Also, the DND and theme managers did not work and always force closed. Minor stuff of course, but basic things I just couldn't deal with.

Finally, I recommend you take a look at the droidxforums if you haven't already. They have a section dedicated to MIUI and you can find all the advice, tips, and tricks you may be interested in.

Thank you for the info

Just my two cents

I was on Liquid before I decided to try Miui. Liquid was screaming fast and responsive. Liquid also has a ton of customization options and I was constantly tweaking. It made my phone seem like a new phone, I never wanted to put it down.

Miui didn't really intrigue me after I saw the screencaps. I don't like the look of Apple's iOS. I feel like it is old and tired, like it is from 1998. However, there is a tremendous community surrounding this ROM, so I decided to install it and see what is under that iOS skin.

THE GOOD:
I love the statusbar pulldown with 2 tabs, notifications & toggles. The browser is pretty great. Miui has tabbed browsing as opposed to windows and it looks good. Most of the browsers in the market just look hideous.

Additional modes like visitor or Do Not Disturb are nice ideas. The theme manager looks very cool, but I haven't played with it yet. I know that there are other options in Miui that don't exist in other ROMs too. I wish I had 2 phones to do a side-by-side comparison. As much as I love the typical black screen/white text simplicity of Android's settings, Miui sets out to organize the settings and I think I might like that better.

THE BAD:
I'lll be the first to admit that the app drawer seems to be a cluttered mess, yet I rarely put apps on my home screens. So Miui sort of makes me nuts.

Also some of the custom options seem limited which is very Apple. For example, you have options on how you want the battery to be displayed in the status bar, but there are only 3 options, percent, graphical or a long bar across the top of the screen.

Speaking of the status bar, my damn carrier is up there. I was so excited not to see the clock and carrier on the lockscreen, but now they've moved the carrier up into the status bar where apps drop icons to communicate to me. Get out of my way!

Contacts are a bit weird. Especially if you are in texting and you decide to choose someone from your contacts. It was showing a name followed by that person's 3 numbers, but it didn't tell me weither the # was at home, at work or mobile. It just listed the numbers.

billyfj give miui a chance, its great. idk what ooklathemok is talking about?? yeah there is no app drawer and looks i phoneish, just use a different launcher; lpp, adw, go, regina, launcher 7. They all work great on this rom and you can customize these to basically anything you want. Miui also has the most theming options available including providing different themes to your lock screen, text, statusbar, phone, and more. Idk why he said oh theres only 3 options for battery?... thats more than any other rom? ahahaha. and the contacts are great. you can finally touch the letter on the side to jump to those names instead of scrolling and you do see whether its a home or cell number?!

My only hitch is that sometimes the physical buttons don't always respond on the first hit. Other than that, MIUI may be my favorite rom so far

SBC back to Froyo, then flash MIUI. You can use Titanium Backup, but do not restore data, just the apps. I flashed the fix in this thread.

This ROM is very stable and I haven't noticed any bugs with it yet...
