FoxKat's Razr/Maxx Jelly Bean Leak Classroom W/MattyP & Friends

Does g Genie back up apps, contacts etc. if so, i will take a look and then begin the revert. Glad u figured out your issue! Keep in touch!

I assume the latest ones. I re-downloaded them using the link from the first page of this thread, and then swapped to the dedicated port.

Finished mine about 10 minutes ago. I didn't do a data wipe as recommended at the end, just X'd out of the Utility. No problems the phone appears to be operating as normal. Confirmed that I am back on .211 now. I re-enable all the bloatware apps and now ready for the JB OTA when it is released.

I never saw Option 2 or the X. I am ow on stock. Not a problem. My contacts and important apps are backed up. So, if JB is delivered, it will have less junk to contend with. Only pros is that I have to do a little bit more work. LOL.
Now we wait and see who, when, where update is tested and delivered. ICS was dropped shortly after leak announced. Thatls why I want to be ready. Boards are ranting about the soak start up.

To the folks who have or are in the process of reverting to .211 -
Which of these 2 options are u selecting:

  1. you can simply hit the X at the top right corner of the screen and close the Utility to AVOID WIPING THE INTERNAL MEMORY AND LOSING ALL YOUR INSTALLED APPS AND PERSONAL DATA,
  2. or you can hit any key and do the above - as long as you understand there is NO TURNING BACK, this will overwrite or erase all user-installed apps and data permanently, leaving you with essentially a completely stock phone!

Once you've done either of the two options above, the phone may reboot again, or you may need to reboot yourself (recommended). You will then power the phone back on and it will "Update Apps", and eventually boot into stock .211.

I would always do an FDR after any sort of update regardless, and that includes when the OTA comes. I do an FDR every couple months anyway. It just keeps things running smoother especially after an update. If you have things set to back up with gmail then everything will restore itself once your account is back on the phone, except maybe texts and call logs. But for me I use Titanium Backup anyway so its a snap to have the phone back exactly as you had it.

I reverted, did full FDR. Runnimg stock with no added apps for now, except email accts. Hope I can get by without adding lots of junk until JB arrives. Xmas in March! LOL Thanks to all for the help! My next step is rooting. Should that be done prior to install of JB OTA? I'm not sure of what is best? Advice needed. THx!

I plan to do a Factory Reset but wanted to do it at a different time.

FoxKat's RAZR/MAXX to JELLY BEAN LEAK Classroom, w/ MattyP and friends!

OK folks, first things first.

Finally, it's not a bad idea to consider helping support both Matt L Groff (Batman), and Dan Rosenberg (@djrbliss), by donating something...anything to them. I did, though it was a small price to pay, to them it doesn't even begin to compensate them for their time and devotion to us in the Android world and specifically us Moto Fanboys and Girls! Links to them are now below their respective utilities in my post above.

Thanks all.

O.K., now that I have successfully done this, sent a payment off to Dan and have been running TripleCore for a month or more, how do I go back? Want to remove root, remove Safestrap and just have JB OTA Leak running? Please help?

The easiest way to accomplish what you desire is to simply do a Factory Data Restore (FDR). This entails making sure you have all your contacts backed up, back up any apps you are in fear of losing, backup call logs if you so desire, and backup texts as well, again if you so desire. The FDR will put your phone back to a "stock" (albeit leaked JB), state, and ready for the upgrade when it finally rolls out.

I use the following utilities to do backups, and they've never failed me. I will mention that some have other preferences for utilities that accomplish the same end results...use what suits your specific purposes but me - I like small footprint, fast and lean.
  • SMS Backup & Restore by Ritesh Sahu
    • Make sure to change the default backup location to the SD-Ext (removable SD card)
  • Call Logs Backup & Restore by Ritesh Sahu
    • Just like above, make sure to change the default backup location to the SD-Ext (removable SD card)
  • AppMonster by Think Android
    • Yeah, again...make sure to change the default backup location to the SD-Ext (removable SD card)
Doing the FRD will of course make it necessary to restore all your personal settings, email accounts and passwords, WIFI settings, etc. Essentially anything you do to customize the phone will be gone and you will be left with a phone that is essentially the same as "fresh out of the box".

I will be doing this very shortly as I am sure many others will too.

If you need assistance, please feel free to call on us.

I may be mistaken about this but I thought an FDR would not remove root or safestrap? At least an FDR on ICS doesn't remove root, least it hasn't for me. I thought the only way to remove safestrap and root was to use one of the utilities (ie 1.82) and fastboot back to complete stock, and I'm not sure there is a utility for JB yet.

My plan is to stay rooted on ICS and just protect and temp unroot (voodoo) just in case moto/verizon changed something with this new update that blocks the JB root somehow.
