Froyo Release Thread

I actually did do the step to get SU installed... Don't know why it didn't take the first time around. Thank you for the quick and helpful reply.

Now, however, I can only overclock it to 800 MHz, not the 1100 (or 1250 as the initial post offers) I had before.

hey the stock rom comes with an 800mhz kernel, did you flash the 1100 or 1.25 kernel?

So I need to replace the update.zip that has the SU app with the one that I originally tried to use? lol....

It worked to do what I just said, crisis averted. :)

Random restart s

I had froyo installed for about a day, but I realized that when it was idle for too long it would restart randomly....I tried two different kernels and still the same result. Anyone got any ideas?

I'd agree with whomever recommended wiping your partitions (coyote?), it does make a difference.

I didn't wipe a thing. What kind of difference does it make? in performance?

It really seems to depend on where you are coming from... I was running Chevy's SS3.2 built from latest source and had to factory init/wipe to get to that... from that to here with No FC's for over 24hrs. I wiped cache and data as typical with Clockwork/Rom Mgr....

But based on that would seem Wipe All Makes the Most sense based on al the threads I've been watching the last 30+ hrs....

why is the new trend of recommendations now going to wipe multiple times? is this a blow hot air into your nintendo game to make it work thing? i wipe everything 3 times now just because i'm paranoid not too, but it seems like a wipe is a wipe is a wipe... or is it kind of like real life, even if you're clean wipe three times?

why is flash not working like it does in all the other videos on youtube its not as responsive is it cause its a test version?

It's a beta version without hardware acceleration, IIRC. Which means, someone correct me if I'm wrong, that it's solely utilizing the cpu speed and not the droid's gpu.

Higher cpu speeds will result in better flash performance. I found that stock speeds are nearly useless on my phone if I wanted to play flash video. Moved up to a 1ghz kernel and it works.

Hopefully the final version will utilize the phone's gpu.

Well.... I have been running this since about 10:00 Pm last night. Oc'ed to 800 mhz, i only use about 4 widgets. I have about 50 apps. Everything is working Great!!!

-Fast. 2-3 times faster than 2.1

-Flash... Awesome!

-Better battery life that BB 1.1 !!! WHAT????? -Yes I am. I know its only been one day but i have had my phone on for 14 hours and still have 60% remaining. I have been on it all day testing 2.2. I only have the 800 mhz kernel but it flies with it. I set it to conservative and it rocks.

-Faster Browser...
I don't know if its so much faster or if the phone just makes better use of the available connection. My speed test for 3G and Wifi both increased about 50% Needless to say i was amazed!

I am loving this.

P.S. i used CW and wiped: System, Data, Boot, and Cache before install.

After the sync about 15 min. it was on!

If anyone needs some help PM me i will try my best to help. I think everyone who has a DROID deserves this.

AND A BIG BIG BIG... Thank you and shoutout to all of the people who made this possible! dancedroid

I didn't wipe either and mine seems to be running great. But now I'm wondering if it would be better if I wiped lol! It's just kinda a PIA to start all over again.

Yeah, I didn't wipe anythig either. Came from BB 1.1 and used the nandroid restore method. Everything seems to be working beautifully.
