Froyo Release Thread

Installed. Now uninstalled. I got spammed with "App Launcher" FC's all the time. I used SP recovery and installed it as a backup. Do I need to do a full-on flash?

Did you do a factory reset and wipe?

Just did it, and it works now, just a little slow at the start since it's syncing everything in the world, ever on my phone. For some reason it didn't delete any of my apps though- little confused about that.

Customizing...

Has anyone tried to deodex this ROM? Can you edit the services.jar file? APK file editing still works the same way?

Thanks for any info!

That's odd, Vulcan... when I hit Music in Car Home, it goes to the stock music player.
Oh really? Maybe I need to enable a music setting or something.

And, good to see someone from da burgh on here. I used to live in Butler Co. but now in Lancaster, PA

Ah, nice! I was wondering if there was anyone from my area around here. Nice to see a neighbor! As far as the music setting, if there's anything I can look into on my phone and report back to you, let me know. Just be patient because 2 months ago I didn't know I'd ever be saying words like "SPRecovery" and "nandroid" so there's a learning curve.

brando56894 - what issues are you having with handcent? It's pretty much the last thing I have to re-add and set up, but I was curious if it was going to have any bugs.

Does anyone have any problem goin from landscape. To portrait on the home screen I have auto rotate but it still doesn't rotate onless I open the keyboard. And this is only on the homescreen, everywhere else it auto rotates.

I believe this was a question when the Droid first came out and Motorola said that this was done on purpose. The launcher only works in landscape when the keyboard is open.

However, if you use another launcher like HelixLauncher, you can set it to autorotate to landscape the way you are asking for.

the auto rotate feature on the stack home launcher is only for certain apps like the browser or messaging if i am not mistaken, since this is not a "customized" rom the launcher was not changed so it should be the stock one

Don't know if you had a Blackberry before the Droid like I did, but I'd sit on Crackberry waiting for the next leak to come out. When it did, some things were awesome and some things got really crappy (BB Storm). This Froyo leak has nothing really glaringly bad with it for me. It's fantastic in fact.
Never had a BlackBerry but I can certainly believe what you're saying.
Ditto on the 'nothing glaringly bad'. I notice a decent lag after any reboots. A bit longer than on 2.1
Maybe thats just the system getting things all ready to go. Not really a hinderance, just something noticeable. But after about ~15 seconds...it flies!
A couple games I have, Gang Wars to be specific, force close when I first launch it. Like an instant FC. But the 2nd tap to open it, it works flawlessly. But to say the least, for a leaked release, I'm satisfied enough to keep testing for a bit longer :D

That sucks I like this launcher I guess ill go back to launcher pro. By any chance anyone know if its working good (launcher pro)

Weird, my homescreen DOES go in landscape mode with the stock launcher. If it's not supposed to...then something is wrong lol.

But I do have Launcher Pro installed as well. And it works like a champ, peterjariel. Smooth and very responsive.

Note to others: Helix1 isn't showing up in the market for me either. And trying to install it from one of my back-ups manually...installs. Even launches to helix. But as soon as I open the app tray and select an app, it force closes.
Most likely Helix1 isn't FroYo compatible yet. And not showing in the market cuz it's only listed as compatible up to 2.1
And since the market is detecting our phones as 2.2....well, you get the idea. I saw two other apps I had earlier that no longer showed in the market as well. I forget what they are, but would probably be a good idea for people to check the market and see that all the apps they had before did indeed install and are still available.

I don't have my super user app so I can't use a lot of my toys (notably overclocking)... Is there a download link or a way to fix that?

I actually did do the step to get SU installed... Don't know why it didn't take the first time around. Thank you for the quick and helpful reply.

Now, however, I can only overclock it to 800 MHz, not the 1100 (or 1250 as the initial post offers) I had before.

hey the stock rom comes with an 800mhz kernel, did you flash the 1100 or 1.25 kernel?

So I need to replace the update.zip that has the SU app with the one that I originally tried to use? lol....
