love love the fact that music is accessable thru the car nav...sweetness

Hey, I didn't even notice the car mode. I like! Much better! I wonder what else I haven't noticed... time to poke around.

Off topic, or rather, new-along-the-same-topic, when it comes to the kernels, do you guys think it's better to select a higher one and clock it lower or a lower one and max it out? For instance, if I want to max at 900, is it better to use the 900 kernel or maybe use a 1GHz and set it at 900 max? Or is it pretty much the same difference either way?

Can anyone explain the music setting in car mode? I click it and it says it does not sense activity, guess it wants to go for a ride in the car eh?

Well I guess I'm 'full of it' then.
I HAVE been using VERY heavily. LOTS of browsing. Listening to music. Well over 100 texts and almost 90 mins. of talking.
I'm running the 1.2 kernel. Been off the charger since ~9am..and still have 60% left on battery.
Sure, it's using a bit more power, but nothing EXTREME!
Certainly not enough for me to immediately switch back to anything 2.1 based.
Maybe your current setup is causing the drain.
I use no widgets or anything like that so I'm not pulling any major data checks.
There's a whole bunch of factors to figure. Just because you are not getting good battery life, doesn't mean others are "full of it" ;)

Oh calm down ya drama queen. I didn't literally mean that anyone is full of ****.

Back on topic.
There is no drama.
Just stating the fact that not everyone will experience the same thing.
Depending one what apps you're using, how many widgets, etc. will all effect battery life.
I'm sorry to hear it's not giving you great battery life ATM.
Maybe the final release will.
Only time will tell :)
Ok, settle, or I'm going to make you and Hank hold hands and say 5 nice things to each other or you stay in time out.

not only that but when you go to the next page it has brightness settings and more! How awesome! Anyone else noticed also that when you click on CLOCK in the menu it turns into the same similar format as when you have it on the multimedia dock? So sick! I had to download the actual dock program to get it to do it on its own. But it's simple, and done right.

YES SIR! :D
It's all good.
It is interesting how many factors do play into overall performance with our phones and how everbody can potentially have a completely different result/experience.
I feel bad for the folks who are struggling getting this to work. 99.99% of them aren't morons. Sometimes with early releases like this, things just are totally worked out.
Just glad to help out where I can :)

I just hit the music on the car dock and it took me to the dialpad. I didn't notice there was a second page on the dock either.

As for the clock, I guess I'd already been using that for quite a while because that didn't look foreign to me. I just wish that stupid screensaver thing didn't kick in after a few minutes on the multimedia dock. I hate that!

Don't know if you had a Blackberry before the Droid like I did, but I'd sit on Crackberry waiting for the next leak to come out. When it did, some things were awesome and some things got really crappy (BB Storm). This Froyo leak has nothing really glaringly bad with it for me. It's fantastic in fact.

I got it working flawless with the Rooted 2.2 OS. Its nice and fast. Seems stable. But i am having the updated maps issue and then also a issue with the browser that force closes when i try to open a webpage. Anything other than google. I can do a search but when i try to open a page it force closes. :(

Any suggestions?

Ok, i finally got this set up and working they way i want it to. And all i have to say is WOW. Its blazing fast, flash works (i was just watching Lost on hulu), and theres alot of nice new features that we havnt had before. So i just want to thank google for this awesome version of android and to the devs who helped make this happen.

Im surprised that so many people are having problems installing froyo, whether it be with SPR or CWR. As soon as this I found this over on droid life around 10:30 am saturday morning i downloaded it on my laptop, transferred it over to my droid, rebooted into CWR and restored the backup. I dont even think I wiped data and cache the first time. It was slow while syncing but once I installed launcher pro, OC'd it and rebooted it, my droid has been golden except for little bugs in xscope and handcent. Im even running bgills clear black theme or whatever its called and so far this is pretty damn nice. I cant wait to go to work tomorrow and show it off to my friends, especially this guy who has an unrooted nexus one, so I can show him my droid beats his n1 in quadrant :D

I'd agree with whomever recommended wiping your partitions (coyote?), it does make a difference.

By theming the phone with Clean Black by bgill55

Check it out here:

i installed clean black, but i have the same dock icons. did he do it on his own?
Which icons specifically are you referring to?

i would like an icon for my email, maps, talk, and gallery...i mean if anyone had just a zip of these black icons anywhere?
