Froyo Release Thread

argh.... the file doesn't match the file that it says it should be in the instructions. i hope this works. the numbers are close. but they're not the same.

I had to flash back to BB 1.1. This rom with these kernels simply run WAY too hot and eat up the battery WAY too fast.

No offense, but this ROM puts BB 1.1 to shame.

I would respectfully disagree. You simply can not compare a 2.1 rom with a 2.2 rom. BB is rock solid and one of the best 2.1 roms out there...Just sayin...
completely agree BB is rock solid that's why i rolled back after i saw the issues on froyo, awesome release "thanks to all who have contributed" but i will wait for the good stuff dancedroid

THANX P3DOID and Team!!!!

I finally caught up on page 112...

I've been running this for about 6 hr...

- apps2sd seem to work as I had used partioning in clockwork to partition my SDCARD Before I had any use for it BUT only one (iCommando/Shooting Game) add had ended there...

- Had problem with Google Maps but recent post of update.zip let me get it back after deleting from /system/apps...

There is some confusion with the kernals I've been able to download... 1.2 ran Quadrant at 1663 on second try... I then installed 1.25 kernel and it turned out to be a 1.1... Oh Well, it runs smooth...

The 1.2 kernel I installed to get wireless working was broken for Bluetooth... but Everything works fine after installing the 1.25 that's really a 1.1...

Goin to bed... enough for one day... Real happy outcome... More tomorrow...

Well its been a very long day here and I can see its quieted down now. Im out for the night..

I would hope to have an issues thread open tomorrow where we can have some easily seen issues for everyone to read and work on

Thanks for all you have done and sleep well

Well, all that said, this is the best "first" rom I have seen. It's running well. I am not rolling back, as I am not having any major issues as of right now (battery is good, but my phone is a bit hotter running this rom). According to a post at AD, they are currently in the "discussion" phase of doing a BB release. I wouldn't expect it right away though.

Once again (I have said this several times, but this is a truly momentus day for the Droid), thanks again to all involved, with extra special thanks to P3D...

Don't know if this has been posted before, but one of the smaller things I was looking forward to was the ability to sort contacts by last name. Maybe this will be fixed by final release, but as it stands right now, you can change the display options to show last name first, but that's literally all it does. So, Bob Smith is still under B, but listed as Smith, Bob. Kinda silly :)

Going into the Contact settings, I made sure to check "last name" under both "Sort List By" and "View contact names as". I can now sort people by their last names...

Not the case for me. Go into options when under the contact app. Click "display options", then choose "Sort list by", then choose "last name"...Even when set to First name first, it still lists in alphabetical order based on last name...

thanks to both of you for simply pointing that out to me instead of giving me a smart a$$ answer that i deserved for overlooking that... :)

No edit button, but when I said "first name first" I was referring to View contact name as...

So...

Sort list by - should be "last name"

View contact names as - can be set to either First name first or Last name first...

Works either way...

One point I wanted to make before I sleep... Really LinPack is Only a representation of CPU Speed I believe... Quadrant should be an Overall Better Meter of True Device Performance...

Coming from Chevyno1 LV kernels I'm used to good Linpack and Great Battery Life... I'll be interested in seeing what Battery Life is now with P3-Froyo....

One concern is P3's kernal don't utilize CPU temp so TempMon can only report Battery Temp. vs. Chevy's and Taz where I was used to CPU Temp...
