Froyo Release Thread

Not all apps have been updated so that they can be moved to the SD card. If you grab Titanium Backup from the market, it has a feature to force apps to the SD card, but it may mess up the app/phone.

Anyone has any idea on how to move apps to SD? All the apps that I have checked so far all have the "Move to SD card" button disabled. I am sure that I need to do something before they can be used, but don't know. Can anyone try to post the steps for it?

Thanks in advance.

Man...It is a ***** to have read every post, but hey, I'm here to help :D

VERY few apps have APPS2SD enabled. The creator of the app has to update it in order for it to work. I can't recall, but there are a few apps where the button is not grayed out, but very few...Just give Froyo some time and app makers will make this option available...

Tried everything. Every time I try to install the rom, it all goes well until it gets to the point of mounting SDEXT and then says

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2.

Any ideas??

Wow, that was easy coming from BBv1.1. Most things are working, the obvious one is busybox. Titanium is working fine with its version of the busybox problem fix, but there is no busybox in bin or xbin, hence Metamorph is not finding it. Not even sure MM will work with a odx'd rom, but I was gonna give it a try. Not sure if using the old busybox install will work?

Coming from bbv1.1, and using Rom manager, I performed a factory rest and wiped everything, and things installed perfectly. Flash, 1.25 OC, maps, all of my programs, su and root, all the goodies. And to confirm it did take the google sync a few minutes to download everything. The camera app has some new features, and looking forward to trying them out.

Just a fyi for folks who have been on the more custom roms, there are going to be some differences. Many of the little tweaks like sysrw, camera hacks etc. are going to be missing at this point. You need to think this one through, as this rom is more towards factory, and less about little tweaks that we have come acustom too. To date most of the custom roms have been about speed, appearance and little tweaks that many of us have grown to depend upon. This is a base, and a solid one at that, so far. Speed wise, this puppy smokes. It is going to be interesting to see where things go to next, with the dev's. I think this is a unique postion for the developers, much different than the past, where the base platform was sadly lacking in a lot of ways. Methinks the dev's are going to have to get very creative to find their niches.

Now, if I can get busybox sorted out........

Are you following the directions posted by Miami1683/P3droid? How are you getting that SDext error message...this ROM doesn't have anything to do with an SD card partition.

Use root explorer to search for Busybox. Once it finds the file, copy and paste it into system/bin

Thanks guys. I have Titanium, but would rather not use it because it may mess up the app.

I guess I will just keep waiting for the apps to be updated by the authors so that I can start moving them one by one to the SD.

Thanks for the quick help. I probably read 60-70 pages myself, but missed the ones that were related to "move to SD" issue. You guys rock!

Ok can some one make sure I am clear on this, I am not rooted, so first I root using that link on the bottom and updating it, than what are those 2 recovery things, do I do both? or which one should I do, what is the difference.
And do I have to back up? what should I use to back up things like my apps.
Also, I am confused about were to get flash.
Will the flash plugin work with any browser?
Sorry for all the questions.

That's standard. No problem, just boot up and wait for it to sync and level out.

Also, the maps included IS the most up to date version so don't screw with it, it works, but market is confused about it.

I think everyone gets that, did you try just ignoring it and cutting up the phone?

what do you mean it doesn't have anything to do with the sdcard...that's where the recoveries (nandroid and clockworkmod are installed)

-Yes you need to root
-One is for SPRecovery and one is for Clockwork Recovery. You use the one that corresponds to the recovery image you are using
-Make a backup of your phone just incase it goes south
-Flash is found here Now that you have FROYO, How About Flash
-Stock browser only.
-Backup using the backup feature of the recovery image you choose. Since you are new to rooting, read the stickies/guides in the Hacks/Hacking Help/FAQ sections.
