Froyo Release Thread

Tried everything. Every time I try to install the rom, it all goes well until it gets to the point of mounting SDEXT and then says

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2.

Any ideas??
Are you following the directions posted by Miami1683/P3droid? How are you getting that SDext error message...this ROM doesn't have anything to do with an SD card partition.

what do you mean it doesn't have anything to do with the sdcard...that's where the recoveries (nandroid and clockworkmod are installed)
I said SD CARD PARTITION.

Tip of Advice...

Ok can some one make sure I am clear on this, I am not rooted, so first I root using that link on the bottom and updating it, than what are those 2 recovery things, do I do both? or which one should I do, what is the difference.
And do I have to back up? what should I use to back up things like my apps.
Also, I am confused about were to get flash.
Will the flash plugin work with any browser?
Sorry for all the questions.

If I were you I would DEFINITELY do a bit of researching on the meaning, process and point of rooting before attempting this. I would hate to see a fellow DROID-er brick his phone on the brink of something as amazing as FROYO. Just my 2-cents...do a few google searches on rooting the DROID and fully understand what you are doing before attempting. Best of luck and happy rooting to you!!!

If you havnt rooted yet, you will need to use rsdlite to flash sprecovery (you only have the option to use one at a time.) That .zip in op is only for froyo root.

You probably need to read some rooting threads before you jump into this.

Clockwork is better than sprecovery, but you have to go to sprecovery first cuz there is no .sbf for clockwork. Unless you are still on 2.01, you have to use rsdlite, check out the rooting thread.

Recovery Image...

I don't know what a recovery image is.

This allows you to boot into a mode that lets you backup and restore your current device state as well as install new ROM's. Like I said previously, research and UNDERSTAND before attempting. GOOGLE is your friend.

So..... any ways to extract the Bluetooth Voice Dialing and Flash for Browser from Froyo 2.2 to install over 2.1??

This may sound weird but I cannot reboot into recovery any more. I tried downloading one of the new kernals in ROM Manager and it asks me to Wipe data...I don't. Once it reboots, it sticks on the M logo. The Droid eye doesn't come up at all. After a battery pull...the phone will boot up normally. I hold the X button down and nothing happens. Any thoughts on this???

I had the same issue. I was on clockwork when it happened. I opened Rom manager and flashed sprecovery twice, then back to clockwork twice. That's it. I rebooted into recovery and all was good.
