Froyo Release Thread

...My thoughts exactly...

Why does the droid need to be rooted to do this, when I downloaded the 2.1 update it was easier.

Dude, this is a leaked release candidate. I have zero confidence that you know what that means so just go do some research. This thread is over your head. Sorry. Reread our previous answers.

...My thoughts exactly... This is not something you should be "just messing around with" if you don't know what you are doing. GOOGLE GOOGLE GOOGLE!!!

anyone have any info on why hulu and sirius media player isn't working with froyo and flash?

Hulu is blocking android because of rights issues.

thanks, and @titans i did google it... hah! i was reading earlier that people had hulu working though? guess not... i can't believe how fast this is.

Somebody said he had it working in a window through some widget link. I don't use hulu so I don't know, but they were saying 30 pages ago that there was a link to a windowed window you could zoom in on.

^ errr booting up I meant

I'm disappointed in my lack of knowledge about this stuff, I'm a big tech guy, but really I had no idea about any of this stuff before, as you can see by my amount of posts, just got a droid a few weeks ago.

No need to be rude. These people are new to this, and yes, it takes much patience...We all need to be a bit more polite when answering these questions...Not everyone is going to read all of a 100+ page thread...Just my opinion though...

Please take it to PM. This thread has about 1,250 posts in it, and not one hint of bickering until now. Please don't be the first to receive infractions.

I've been posting this all day because of the fact not everyone is going to read every post. I hope it is helpful:

Things to remember with this release:

You must have a rooted Droid to use this ROM

The initial install takes a few minutes, be patient, it will boot up. (Mine was like 4 mins.)

Wifi and 3G now work...link:
Froyo Overclocked Kernels includes *wifi* fix

The first time you run this update.zip it will take several minutes to install.

Follow the instructions like this: 1. Start with initial download; 2. Install the Flash .apk on your SD; 3. Install the P3Droid OC Kernal for WIFI and 3G and you’ll be all set.

Those who are already rooted and saying "hey I lost SU", go to step #3 I described above.

I had to run "Flash Alternate Recovery" twice before I could go back to SPRecovery from ROM Manager

For those having problems with Titanium Backup. Install the newest version of Busybox, and you should be good to go

If you have a fresh install and think your phone is really lagging badly, hang in there, it’s doing the sync of apps and contacts. Give it like 20 minutes and even at 800 mhz you will be amazed how snappy it becomes.

Apps2sd and Google maps is apparently hit or miss

I have downloaded all 3 files for Clockwork. Every single one I get MD5 Mismatch. Im rooted, coming from BBv1.1 Ive wiped everything 3x. Even tired SPRecovery (which I dont remember anything about) and Im getting error25 which I thought meant spaces so I renamed it, nothing works. I extracted the file and put it in the clockwork/backup files as is and try to restore it and nothing works. Ive researched the hell out of this as well cant find a solution

ZERO shame...

EVERYONE is a newbie at some point...only way to learn is to research. GET TO IT!!! Take advantage of the wonderful Android community you have at your disposal.

For Hulu, try Hulu Bookmark. Thats the windowed app they were talking about.

For the lock sound, its in /system/media/audio/ui

And I like the lil Low Battery sound....:-)

I am excited to get this done, I see how much faster it is, tired of so much lag doing almost everything. Does it still take 5 minutes to turn on?

why are people so rude to other people that are at the same point they used to be at? google doesn't provide you with all of the answers, that's why we have message boards. nobody knows everything and you were asking the same "dumb" questions you're getting upset with others about asking. this community depends on people helping other people. don't tell people to go do research, give them a link.

I just feel like I should bring this up, in case someone wants to format their sd card. I was not able to successfully do so until I formatted from my computer, then I went into the phone and did a factory reset. As soon as it booted up I skipped the setup menu, hit each corner of the screen clockwise starting from the top left hand corner, quickly. Then I went to settings - sd card & phone storage - unmount sd card - format sd card - mount sd card. You probably don't need to format from your computer, but I did it just to see what would happen.

Sorry, not trying to be rude. Just sayin... there are other threads that address said questions and this one is moving prety quick.

I mean, I told him about rsdlite and where to look... the answers are out there.

My fault for being short.
