General review, complaints, and info

Im almost totally satisfied with my thunderbolt ..it is extremely fast and smooth as butter . HTC sense is the s#$t . Coming from the og Droid this phone runs circles around my Droid and the copy and paste feature is great. With the thunderbolt on 3g and my D1 on WiFi I load up a random site and the thunderbolt loaded the page up a lot faster. My complaints are the battery but not that bad. The speaker is not as loud as my Droid. Overall I'm happy with this phone and have no regrets now we just need to get this bad boy rooted

Mine shut down overnight. I put it on the charger before bed. When I woke up, it was 100% charged, but turned off.
You probably need to go into your Menu/Settings/Applications/Development/Stay Awake and your issue will be resolved.

Battery is disappointing to me thus far. When I went to sleep at approx. 3am, my TB was at 100%. Wake up at approx. 11:15am, it is at 56%. WTF?! Wtf is it doing all night? Does anybody know of a GOOD task/app killer? One that will actually EXIT apps? "Advanced Task Killer" doesn't do sh*t. You select which apps to kill, but then go right back up to the notification pull down bar and they are still running! Seems like every time I pull down the notification bar there are at least 6-10 apps/icons in there (assuming that means those apps are running?).

I just downloaded JuiceDefender, we'll see if this does anything. I also have the screen brightness at about 40% I believe....do you think a manual setting is better for the battery than the "auto-brightness"?

Any other ideas ? ? ?

Anyone else buy the car / window mount? The phone doesn't really sit in it flush and even more annoying is that stupid toggle on the top you have to snap down. I actually prefer my old OG Droid window mount.

You need to push it in a bit harder.... scared me at first

Thunderbolt 4.3" Display

I am very impressed with this display!

Admittedly, I was somewhat concerned/apprehensive -going from a D1, with it's smaller screen + slightly higher res, and subsequently higher pixel density. I can honestly say that I am happy with the Thunderbolt display. Great color rendition, bright, sharp, and wow the viewing angle! :)

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I was in the same boat as you and curious as to how the lower resolution would appear. But this screen is amazing and I had a dx user tell me the same. The colors are very saturated and rich looking.

New TB owners, do you agree with this review?

I found this article referring to the T'Bolt having horrible battery life:

HTC Thunderbolt Battery Life: 4G Smartphone... | Gather

As I've been contemplating getting this phone, this issue concerns me. The battery dying after only 4 hours of moderate use (according to the article review) seems bad.

My question to those of you who've owned your TB for a few days now is: Do you find the battery life to be unacceptable? How does it compare to your previous phone's battery life?

I might be living under a lucky star, but the battery seems like my Moto Droid or wife's Incredible to me.

If you are going to be on it non-stop it will drain fast. Normal use does not present a problem.

I haven't had any issues with my battery at all. It's actually better than my droid was. I can go a good 12-16 hours on a charge with moderate use.

More like 6-10 hours of use for me. Which is about normal my iphone 3gs/4/Droid II friends tell me. I think this, out of the box the Thunderbolt is configured to drain battery so fast it isn't even funny. Turn off the stuff you don't use/need and things get a little better. Watch a video? Yeah that's gunna drain things alot on stock automatic brightness.

first off get rid of ATK cuz it sucks... and check and see how often you phone update all your social settings!

While I'm not thrilled with the battery life so far (picked mine up Thursday at around 8:30pm), I've gotten more than four hours out of it, with moderate-to-heavy use. My usage thus far has mostly consisted of some phone calls, texting, browsing with the stock browser then Dolphin, reading some files in DTG, showing off photos, some checking of FB, checking of Google Maps, some Nav and having my Gmail pulled.
