General review, complaints, and info

My 3g icon disappears for a second and comes back. Does anyone notice this on their phone? It didn't seem to affect the connection as far as I can tell. When I'm connected to 4g it stays on constantly.

Otherwise the phone is great. The battery life isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It has a nice screen and 4g is really fast. The phone feels good in your hand. So far I like the phone.

I still haven't experienced 4g. Can't wait. I live in a black hole. Guess I'll check it out in church tomorrow...lol.

Verizon sucks. Their maps are a total lie.

Having been on T-Mobile for 5 years and friends who use AT&T and Sprint. One thing in common with all of us? We're all on Verizon now. Why? Cuz it beats the crap out of every other wireless carrier in terms of reception. Yeah, doesn't have reception everywhere, but just about.

One thing I'm amazed with is that my average sweetest result on 3G for my X was around 900kbps. On this thing I'm averaging 1500-1600kbps on 3G. Same locations relatively same times. I only got one reading that high on my X in the 5 months I had it.

Anybody know how to change notification sounds to something custom. I have my own sounds but can;t figure out how to get away form the stock ones.

Yeah, the color saturation is awesome! But I am not impressed with the clarity. The D1 and X both have clearer screens. To be somewhat of a pioneering handset, HTC could have done a much better job.
I am very impressed with this display!

Admittedly, I was somewhat concerned/apprehensive -going from a D1, with it's smaller screen + slightly higher res, and subsequently higher pixel density. I can honestly say that I am happy with the Thunderbolt display. Great color rendition, bright, sharp, and wow the viewing angle! :)

What are your thoughts?

There is a way to create folders on the SD card with specific directory names. It is real easy, did it on my D1. But I do not remember the details. Try googling it.

Or...you can download Zedge from the market, download your sounds, go into Setting, Sound, tap on New Sound, and it will be listed right there.

I have a question about the dock setting . This is from the online manual:

Dock
If you purchased the car kit, choose the behavior when you mount your phone to the car kit.

I can't change anything when in that setting and I have tried with the phone mounted in the car mount. Is there a special car kit you need to have? Is it working for anyone else? I have not tried it yet but do you have to be using Car Panel for this to do anything? What am I missing?

More like 6-10 hours of use for me. Which is about normal my iphone 3gs/4/Droid II friends tell me. I think this, out of the box the Thunderbolt is configured to drain battery so fast it isn't even funny. Turn off the stuff you don't use/need and things get a little better. Watch a video? Yeah that's gunna drain things alot on stock automatic brightness.

Amen, Brother!!!

Thanks. I forgot you could do that with Zedge. Been a long time.

Picked Up My New Thunderbolt

So I switched from the Droid X to the new Thunderbolt...

The TB is a great phone, I only have one complaint...BATTERY!

Charged to 100%... 3 hours later with minimal use, 10% battery life left.

Charged again, 2 hours and the phone has drained to an unacceptable amount.

Gonna give it a few more days...I will mention that the entire time my phone was HOT...not warm, HOT. With that said, it is possible there is a short in the phone causing the battery to drain quickly.

Anyone else have the same experience?

Am I the only one who things that maybe HTC should have considered maybe a 1500+ battery?

Other than battery life...phone is running great and I am really liking it more than my X.

Possibly. It sounds like something else is going on though. For starters, what accounts are syncing and how often? How many widgets are you using? Are WiFi and GPS off? Are you using Home or Back to exit applications?

If its hot maybe something running in background constantly

every time i plug in my thunderbolt to the USB port on the computer I get a pop up asking if I want to install some vcast media manager thing. I click no and it still opens up internet explorer to a Verizon page asking to download it. How do you stop that?

You should do this for several reasons, but go into the control panel and disable USB auto-play.

I cannot find this...what are the specific instructions to find the USB auto-play in the settings.

Thanks

I have brightness down to about 15% and display is using half the battery. It's bright enough for me since I'm light-sensitive due to frequent migraines, but that is still ridiculous. However, I am at 23 hours off charger with light to moderate use and at 40% :-) Seems to do better on standby than my Droid, but drop somewhat faster during use, and no dark theme in the stock messaging app.

I've been... THUNDERSTRUCK!

Holy ****.... I want that sort of battery life!!!!!! I'm 2 hours 39 mins off of the wall and at 68% battery life with light to moderate use. 6 min of calls too.
