Gingerbread.....i want it now !!!!!!!!!!!!

To OP: the root method in that video looked pretty darn easy. I watched it and it basically does the same method as the manual root method, which I posted below. That video goes through the same steps...its just automated...and you dont have to copy and paste. I would not have any problem using that if I were to root myself again today. Looked legit.

In my opinion this is the best, easiest to follow set of instructions available for rooting the manual method. (which is what I did when I rooted)

[Procedure] How to Root the Thunderbolt with ADB (Windows) - Android Forums

Take your time...follow the instructions step by step...you should be rooted in about an hour and a few reboots.

good luck!

Ok Thanks... I actually just finished rooting my phone from here: [RS Guide] How to Root Your Thunderbolt Like you said, it wasn't bad at all...

So now, my questions are...

1. Where do I find the best (most stable) Gingerbread ROM
2. How do I install it?
3. Will I be able to restore all of my paid apps from google market?
3. After installing GB, What will I need to do to run Netflix?

Thanks again for all your help!

God bless!

Great. U need to go install Tom manager from market and flash clockworkmod recovery.

Then download the mr2 or mr2.5 radio.

Then I recommend gingeritis 1.1 which chingy has removed.

Your paid apps should still show purchased in the market ...just go to market ...menu...installed apps...they should be there.

Ill pm u with the link

Dont see anything on the market for 'Tom Manager' Shall I assume that you mean 'Rom manager'? Also, is the MR2 for unrooted and the MR2.5 is for rooted?

Tom manager? Is this a new one? I think you meant Rom manager. lol
Been there, done that... lmao

Before you do anything else. Do a nandroid backup of your current setup..so you can revert if you need to.

Download the MR 2.5 radio HERE. To install a radio. rename PG05IMG.zip and move to root of SD card. Power off phone. Hold volume down button while powering on. This will boot you into Hboot. Then press power button once...it will find the update...then ask you if you want to install. Press Volume UP for yes...let it install...once done...press power to reboot. (personally the MR2 radio gives me the best reception where Im located, it varies for each user)

After you reboot, go rename that radio zip to MR2.5PG05IMG.zip and move it or you can leave it there. I created a folder specifically for radios and roms on my sd card...and name them accordingly.

I cant post the link to Gingeritis 1.1 because Chingy requests not to. You can register at themikmick forums (takes a few seconds and its worth it)...then all support will be handled there. Chingy ditched XDA because he is sensitive to some moron complaining about his rom autowiping during the flash and losing texts...which He shouldve backed up first anyway. The only issue i have with gingeritis is the voicemail notification stays after listening to the voicemail. it goes away after reboot...but this has been similar on just about every gb rom ive tried.

TO install a rom, you do the same as the D1 (assuming you had one), just put the zip on the root of sd card, boot to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, go to mounts and storage format /system (careful DO NOT format /sdcard!!!).

Then just install zip from sdcard, choose zip, and install. You will be scrolling with the volume buttons and choosing with the power button while in recovery.

Thats it. Netflix is included in the rom i believe. If not...go here and follow the latest releases. Old releases will give a popup saying a new version is available and want you upgrade. People post the new versions up all the time so you can update. (until netflix makes compatible with the tbolt)

TONS of new development at xda dev. Check out the forums. Thunderbolt Android Development - xda-developers

If you want to go back to froyo, i recommend bamf 1.8.6....it works with the MR2 and MR2.5 radios.

Sorry for the long post. Check your PMs.

I couldn't agree more, that's what made me stray from BAMF. And it seems to be a running theme for that site (to be un named) loose moderation and childish attitudes make me not want to even go there. But unfortunately most of the TB innovation is going on there.
