Gorgeous, mysterious, EVO-ish HTC device headed for Verizon

Well. There is apparently a silent release of the Droid 2 Global to continue to sell the Droid 2, but not sure about the Incredible HD as well.
All I have to say is, don't jump the gun if you have no sources to show. I would love for it to release the 11th, but saying this only brings up peoples hope to then potentially be crushed.

But this is not an announcement its a leak.

Right now it is neither. As it sits now, it is a claim. A claim that anyone could make. The reason it has become an issue is because this claim was made by an admin of this site. If you or I make this claim, no one cares, but because he did, it is a bigger deal. It may end up that I am wrong about all this, but it won't change the fact that it was handled poorly from the get go.

There is the issue. Any of us could make a claim that a phone was coming on such and such a day. But the fact is - no one would care. And quite frankly - predicting that VZW is going to release a phone the week of Thanksgiving isn't that hard. Sure...Verizon is bound to introduce a new phone Thanksgiving week. They have done that many times in the past.

The problem here is that a "Trusted" admin on this site claimed to have inside information and an official release date. He went on to claim that he already had pictures in hand and was just waiting for Verizon to clarify some information on the final specs. Now two weeks later and after many broken promises of when this information was going to be released (tonight, tomorrow, shortly, in an hour) we have nothing. Even this weekend on this thread people who also claimed to be in the know said that it was coming today. Ok. It is noon...and nothing. Actually it is 1:00 in Miami's world...and nothing.

If an Admin claims to have something and plays a shell game for two weeks that is a serious issue. Sure, he has a family and a job and other things that are clearly more important. But - it would have been better for the sake of the reputation of this site to not say anything unless he was prepared to back it up with real facts. This has become no different than all the crazy claims/rumors about the Verizon/CDMA iPhone. We have all gotten tired of people claiming to know a CDMA iPhone is on its way. Yet - no one has proof, pictures, early phone, etc. Miami has basically put himself and this site into the same boat as the countless CDMA iPhone rumor starters. Until either group provides proof - they are just spreading rumors to try and drive traffic to their site.

I believe that this site should demand a higher standard than being just a tabloid source for Android rumors. Give us some proof...not just promises of something that NEVER happens.

The fact that Miami is silent in all this makes me think this is just not true. I have tried to be sympathetic about this - but when you make countless claims you eventually lose credibility. Now some of the defenders are saying who cares if Miami shows us the goods - we will find out on the 23rd. Give me a break. That is a cop out.

The iPhone rumor starters say the same tired old thing. "I have no proof that an iPhone is coming to verizon in 2011 - but just wait and see. It is."

some people including admins may find this post harsh but i agree 100% 1 of 2 things need to happen at this point.. another update at the least, since his last update was "an hour" Saturday afternoon or fess up to the BS and tell us if we are wasting our times or a specific date of which all will be posted regardless of the stupid verizon reps..

sorry if that sounds like he "owes" us something but after 10 times of telling us the info will be released he kinda does and if you are in here checking multiple times a day then you ought to feel the same way.

if today comes and goes with no info then i will lose all faith we will see info/pics here first and likely will turn up on BGR sometime in the next couple weeks..

i have no doubts the phone or the info/pics exist just that it will appear hear first after all the failed attempts this past week.

"Weed em out"? Isn't the point to have a creditable site with reliabe info and admins? If this is not the site for that then yes weed me out. :p

You're running a very dangerous line when you start making implications about the credibility of this site and admins. There has been a lot of solid and positive information provided through this site. If you want to get hung up on the exceptions to the rule, that's your issue. But I recommend being careful with your implications.

And just what am I in danger of lol! Wow

Depends if you venture into the area of disrespect to the admin or staff of this forum.

Sources say Samsung Continuum, Zeal, Motorola CITRUS, and a (SILENT) release of the HTC Droid Incredible HD to hit Verizon stores on November 11th. Very, very soon.

What sources? Link please?

P2P Source. Just, wait. I believe people will be pleasantly surprised.

you have to understand how hard that is going to be for everyone in this thread right? lol.. our emotions have been toyed with all week.. :P

Sorry, let me sum this up for all of you. You can believe me or not, but this is what I was told:

"Along side of the Samsung Continuum, Zeal, Motorola CITRUS, there will be a silent release of the HTC Droid Incredible HD to hit Verizon stores on November 11th. The release date was supposed to be silent until launch day due to the ongoing liquidation of all HTC Droid Incredibles as there is still a major surplus of the phone. This allows us to clear our inventory in order to stock units of the second generation phone."

That wouldn't be completely surprising. The release of the initial Incredible was a silent release as well, if I remember correctly.

What would be though is that is the same day the HTC Merge is suppose to launch....what are the chances that the vzw rep forgot about the Merge and remembered the INC HD. Why would Verizon launce so many Android phones on one day?

My one question to this will be: will they allow pre-ordering of the phone? I am actually going to be traveling for business on the 11th...and it would totally suck if I couldn't grab one before they go on back order!!!

Miami - can you verify this information?

You were warned. Your last statement is over the line.

Samsung, Motorola, AND HTC. All Verizon Wireless U.S. Android Phone Manufacturers. Diversity of phones and software released on the same day enables a wider choice of new phones which in turn, spurs sales.

This what the BGR article said from November 11 release!!!

According to a set of newly leaked screen shots purported to depict Verizon Wireless’ internal system, three new phones will be released by the nation’s top carrier next week. The most impressive of the trio is certainly the Samsung Continuum, a unique Android smartphone many believe will be unveiled at Samsung’s event next week. The Continuum features a 3.4-inch Super-AMOLED touchscreen display with a secondary 1.8-inch Super-AMOLED display beneath it, mobile hotspot capability, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, 2GB of internal storage, microSDHC support and Android 2.1. The entry-level Motorola CITRUS, announced last month, features a 3-inch QVGA touchscreen display, Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR and mapping services powered by Microsoft Bing. Finally, the Samsung Zeal is an update to the Alias 2, featuring an E Ink QWERTY keypad, a 2.6-inch QVGA display and a 2-megapixel camera. All three of these handsets are rumored to be launching on November 11th. Hit the break for more details on each of these upcoming phones. No mention of a hidden HTC phone. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt!!!
