Having An Issue With 2.1 - Come In Here

Lol wow this update its the most disappointment ever t he milestones update is way better they even updated the camera gallery is really smooth and has 9 home screens, its the biggest fail ever.

I just downloaded and installed the 2.1 update manually and everything seems to work fine except when I go to the 3d gallery it says application not installed. wondering if the file I downloaded wasn't complete does anyone know for sure how large the file is.

If you launched from a prior homescreen shortcut try launching from inside the app menu instead.

Looks like this person was having some issues today. LOL

I'm keith.

BTW, it is possible to do over the phone. I did it using only my Droid today.

Use the Drod's browser to browse to the update.zip file on droidforums.net.

Long-press the file link to download it to the Droid.

Using Astro file browser, move the downloaded file to the /sdcard

Using Astro, rename the file to update.zip.

Reboot in recovery mode following the instructions on page 1 of the download thread.

Tada!

That's what I did but I think he meant by calling vzw and doing it "over the phone"

I think this was just an incremental update. Someone told me there are three updates that make up the complete package. Hence the update1 in the firmware version. I know my battery is not as good as it was when I was rooted with BB V.9. I think they gave and took things from other builds and came out with this ESE 81. This seems to be more of a maintenance uprade rather than a bells and whistles upate. Just my perception of all this. Waiting for the new Roms to come along.

I've still got the issue where I'm unable to download from the market. It searched and opens just fine. I just get the "download was unsuccessful" error. I've tried batter pull, replacing the shortcut for the market, standard rebooting. turing wi-fi on and off, turning airplane mode on/off. Its been about 45 mins since update.

Ok then lets try a factory reset. Settings/Privacy/Factory Reset. You won't lose your apps, all you'll need to do is sign back into your Google account.
I think you're right Hook, i'm noticing my Gmail is not connecting and the last sync (under settings-->accounts and sync) is 2 hrs old. I guess i'll have to do it. I'll post back when done. thanks.

OK, after the factory reset, and restoration of apps and settings with MyBackupPro, and manually setting soe apps back to they way I had them, I can confirm that a fatory restet did fix my issue with not being able to download from the marketplace and not being able to sync with my google account. Thanks Hookbill. I'm finally up and running 100% with 2.1 update1:icon_ banana:

Well there were two builds before this one I believe and after all this time they just release this.. I doubt they will have another update after this I mean look how long it took verizon to test it.

I think you a right. I took them months for this nothing update, I don't expect much more to come for the Droid. They couldn't even do something as simple as adding a couple of screens.

I reinstalled Swype and it seems to work although on it seems a little slower than before. It might be the settings need to be readjusted.

I followed the instructions on how to force the 2.1 update. Everything seemed to go fine. After the final reboot, I am getting the error message:

"The application Launcher (process com.android.launcher2) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I can mount the phone and I have service, but I can't open any programs or any menus.

What should my next step be?

If you haven't got it fixed yet.....I had to boot the phone in safe mode. Then went into the settings/applications/manageapplications. I had to go in and unistall the launcher app I had installed.
