HEADS UP! Asurion DOES NOT COVER WATER DAMAGE!!!

From Asurion. Its remanufactured. BTW I'm gonna remove the last comment. Really not wanting to start a flame war. Just want to help others out. I apologize for the comment.

You are correct, it's one year. That said, yes, liquid damage will void any warranty, whether it's manufacturer or Asurion. You call and tell them that the replacement device has liquid damage, and they will send you another replacement pending your payment of the deductible.

If you still currently have insurance provided by Asurion, or another insurance provider, correct?

Asurion does not manufacturer any devices or provide warranty service, they only provide insurance against damage for which you pay a monthly fee plus a deductible should the device need replacement.
As far as liquid damage goes there is a damage indicator under the battery, if it turns red the device has been damaged by liquid, if it's white with red writing if it hasn't. No argument. Asurion is still insurance and will replace it.

That is incorrect.

Insurance is just that.... if you are covered, and decide to float your device in a puddle... as long as you pay your deductible, you're covered...as long as your not over your amount of claims in a year.

They will not warranty your device if you get it wet... that's not a warranty matter... its an Insurance matter.

But I am NOT talking about the Insurance coverage. I am talking about the 1 year manufacturer warranty and I believe UrbanBounca has described it correctly.

I insure my car, if the engine blows up I make a warranty claim, if I drive it into a lake, I make an insurance claim. If I drive it into a lake again, I make another insurance claim. As long as I have an insurance policy (which wouldn't be long if I kept driving into lakes) they have to pay.
A warranty is included with a product, it warrants that the product will be free from defects and perform as contemplated. Insurance is an agreement you reach with a third party, you pay a little every month, and should you accidentally damage or destroy your product, the third party agrees to repair or replace it.
Provided Asurian is insuring the device they are under contract to repair or replace it. You can not make a manufacturers warranty claim to Asurian, they do not manufacture anything. They may guarantee that the phone they provide as a replacement is free from defects, and if not they will provide another without the requirement that the customer file another insurance claim. Going back to the car analogy, if your car insurance company's check bounced, they would obviously have to issue you another (regardless if you got the check wet).
I'm speculating that the reason Asurian wanted to know if it got wet was that they would have replaced it without the need for a new claim (and deductible) if they had provided you with a faulty phone.

So you mean that the warranty doesn't cover water damage :) if I follow.

That is also incorrect. I received a remanufactured device from Asurion. It has a sticker under the cover with serial numbers and lots of other info like MEID numbers, dates it was rebuilt where it was assembled. Biggest thing is the REMANUFACTURED BY ASURION sticker. So please don't tell me they don't remanufacture anything. I also received a letter when I received my replacement device assuring me of my 1 year warranty. My device was not free of defects and it is getting replaced under the 1 year warranty.

I originally assumed, wrongly, that the warranty would cover water damage.

So in the end, I called with an issue on my device and Asurion, after trying to convince me that I had somehow inadvertently and unknowingly gave my device water damage, and it is being resolved. Asurion is sending me a new free device. If it was water damaged though, that would have voided the warranty. That is my main point. I guess I could make another insurance claim but I did not damage my phone so that argument is moot.

I stand corrected, I assumed they were merely an insurance company, since they do re manufacturer devices they would definitely be subject to warranty claims. I apologize.

No prob. I should have posted that Asurion's MANUFACTURERS warranty doesn't cover water damage in the title but I was in the midst of blinding rage. If Urban is correct, nobody who manufactures electronics devices cover water damage.

The 1 year warranty asurion provides covers the phone if it has a defect caused by poor workmanship or matterials, that warranty is there for replacement at no cost to you. If the phone has gotten wet, that clearly is not a defect and the FREE replacement warranty is void. Now as others have said asurion will replace a water damaged phone even if it is a replacement (up to two phones in one year) from them, however you will have a deductable or even a second deductable for another replacment.

Watranty = free replacement due to defect

Insurance = deductable due to user cause damage - water damage.

There you go, much better explained. So they are trying to make you file your second claim instead of saying they sent you a defective phone. Is the liquid indicator under the battery red or white with red lettering? If it's red it was damaged by liquid, if it's white with red lettering it's not, take a picture before sending it back so you can prove it.

First and foremost, you need to understand the difference between warranty and insurance. Every new handset comes with a one year warranty through the manufacturer that can be void to liquid/physical damage. Asurion gives a 90-day (or previous handset warranty, whichever is longer) warranty on their replacement devices.

That said, I made perfect sense. You simply don't understand the difference between the two.

Also, I believe Asurion will cover your liquid/physical damaged devices twice in a one year period, as long as you keep insurance on your account for that device the entire time.

I couldn't have said it better,,
