Helix Launcher now available on Android Market

where is the 3d app drawer? and live wallpapers?

when i opened it up on my leaked droid eris 2.1 it was just like a regular home replacement thing but with no 3d app drawer

Yeah but you can drag icons down next to the tab and you can set the number of screens in the settings and auto-rotate.

To rename launcher.apk you must be rooted and then use root explorer or terminal or adb.
-Got Root Explorer, worked great! Thanks!

Now I have a follow-up questions:
1) Where can I find Busybox? Seems like it's not in the Market.
2) I picked up Overclock Widget, and despite defining new frequencies allowed within the program these frequencies (anything over 550) are not applied even when I click "save". Why is this? Could it be related to superuser permissions and/or Busybox?

So far I am really liking Helix! I love the 4 "buttons" at the bottom, and of course the screen rotation is something the stock home screen should have been able to do all along.

I can't get Helix Launcher to work. I had it on my Droid briefly when I was 2.0.1 and it worked, but now that I'm 2.1 I have reinstalled it and nothing. It shows that it's installed, but won't let me switch from the default home screen. Am I missing something simple?

Try installing the "Home Switcher" app from Market. It simplifies moving back and forth among launchers until you've decided what works best for you.

helix

simplest thing to do is download home switcher from market, then you can go between default and helix. or got to settings/applications/manage apps. hit menu/filter/all. find home and hit clear defaults....now it will give you a choice of helix or home..hope it helps

Just to get it strait, it Helix a "home replacement app" or is it different?

Yes, it replaces your current home system with a new one. The UI is largely the same, but some improvements are had. The screen auto-rotates without having to pop the keyboard out, for one. You have the ability to have up to 7 home screens too. So while everyone is crying about how 2.1 doesn't include more home screens, it doesn't matter to you who already has more home screens than the update was supposed to provide. And you get a neat little permanent app bar on the bottom. It contains 4 apps that you drag into it that is always available, no matter which screen you're on. The ability to double-tap and see what's on every screen is a nice touch too and saves time on swiping through 6 screens to get from one end to the other.

I didn't have to reinstall it after I updated. It kept working just fine. Did you uninstall it, or something?

I did that and it worked like a charm. Thanks!

Clearing the defaults, that's what I was forgetting. I knew it was something like that. Thanks!

OK, thanks for the feedback. I just hadn't head much about helix until recently. I ran GDE for a while, but the extra overhead seemed to cause a minor performance hit, that I didn't want.

Alright, call me an idiot, but I installed Helix and I "cleared the data" from the default home app. When I switch to helix, I can see the difference in the screen, but I cant seem to find the "extra" screens everyone is talking about. ...I'm just lost....any help is greatly appreicated. I want to figure out how to use this thing.

Press Menu and click Configure if you want to change the number of screens, auto rotate, etc.
