Helix Launcher now available on Android Market

I've had five or six force close instances since installing over 2.1. I suspect this one is better suited for overclocked devices, as Home++ seems to be more stable actually.

I haven't received the 2.1 OTA yet. I've been running Helix for about a week and love it. It's so much better than the stock home screen. But, going what Hook Bill said, about the app being for the OS: if I install Helix launcher2, will I have to put all my icons and widgets back on, or will they move with the install of the newer version?

I'm arriving late to the party, but so far Helix ROCKS! It's very intuitive and relatively stable - I had been put off to other home apps because of stability complaints.

My only problem with Helix was that it often FCs when I used all 7 screens with many widgets, shortcuts, folders, etc. I ended up going back to 5 screens and even though I have them loaded Helix is very stable.

Now I am trying to optimize the phone's performance. I've erased everything from the standard home screens. I'm also trying to find the file path for launcher.apk so I can rename it launcher.bak. (help???) Additionally I have about 250 apps installed and I am trying to get rid of some fat...

just applied the Update.

Live wallpapers are fine, however Helix will constantly force close. Worked great when I first installed it, and then after one reboot, it's sudden unusable. Constant FCs, fortuately I had not set a default on the home, so I was able to keep hitting the home button between FCs, until it let me select home and go back to stock.

A very useful app when you're experimenting with different launchers/homescreens is "Homescreen Switcher." It enables you to set a default homescreen app but still switch to another without diving into Settings.
