I definitely won't be holding my breath on this one... it'd be nice if it's actually true this time, I could definitely use a better battery life.

There's the timeline. 6.1 Verizon announces it's coming. Someone leaks that it's coming on the 4th. On the 4th Motorola asks for testers on their forum. Someone leaks that build. People check their updater and some of them are starting to get the update.
The Nexus 4.04 update had a similar timeline last week.
I believe with the Razr we will see an announce documents on Friday and probably a release on Monday or Tuesday.
Time will tell.

That makes sense. The nexus got the 4.04 update last week. The xoom this week. And then us next week.
Nexus is not a good measuring stick because it was already on 4.03.
Xoom not a good measuring stick because it was on Honeycomb.
I realize rumors are usually unreliable, but some of you are the most pessimistic people. Motorola has ICS for Razr being releases in Q2, so it won't be much longer. I swear some of you think it is never going to be released.
bsweetness said:Pretty much everyone here knows Motorola has said by the end of Q2, and that's what we expect. But given the constant flow of rumors that haven't panned out over the past few months, it isn't pessimistic to not put much faith in things that are just more rumors. It's realistic. The link in the first post quotes a source at Verizon. Well, pretty much all of the other rumors have quoted sources or leaks from Verizon too. The only things that really matter are official statements along with the start of an ICS soak test.
Those "pessimistic" people you're referring to have been through these types of updates time after time, and they know that no one should be getting too excited about rumors because most often, they don't pan out. Again, that's not being pessimistic, that's being realistic based off experience. Motorola says by the end of Q2, so that's what we're banking on. Until something else that's official comes along to support or alter that, everything else is a just rumor and should be treated as such.
In that case, I would recommend not reading ICS related posts and just wait for the update to arrive. You can find an abundance of other topics that don't really need discussing either. I saw one the other day asking what type of animal your phone would be. Maybe something like that would interest you.

There's no reason for a childish response like that. It just diminishes what you're trying to say.
So, you don't think that discussing the validity of rumors and the likelihood that they're true or not shouldn't be a part of the discussion? That's part of the very essence of what discussing rumors is about. I never said they shouldn't be discussed, I just said that given the recent history with the rumors of the ICS update for the RAZR, you can't put a lot of faith in them.
If you don't care to discuss those aspects of the rumor mill, that's perfectly fine. Just don't reply to the posts that do.
