Or you can just root and install the leak just like I did yesterday. Now I don't have to wait for an OTA and I can still upgrade.

I wouldn't do this if your phone is your daily driver & don't have a spare. If you have a warranty issue you won't be able to swap your phone.

With the proper leak all you have to do is use fastboot back to stock Android 2.3.6. Version 6.12.173.

If you do not understand the risks I would advise rooting or modding your phone. And yes my RAZR is my daily driver but I also read a lot of info and make sure I know how to get back to stock if I have trouble.

So where could I find the newest leaked build of ics? Also can it be installed by just placing it on the SD card? Just don't want to root my phone.

If rooting is something you don't want to do, then I would strongly recommend just waiting for the official OTA update.

Yes your right! Ill take your advice and just wait for the ota!

Do what ever you feel comfortable with. If you do ever want to root and mod your phone I always recommend reading and watching videos on the process multiple times until you are familiar with the process. Once you start to root or install a mod, go slow and following the steps by the letter. And always make sure that your phone has a full charge before starting any process.

It's not worth it for 73/79 at this point in the game, they're not near as good the lastest & the OTA although not likely to be on the 12th still shoulbn't all that long from now. Assuming that if anything did go wrong with your phone hardware wise, depending exactly what it is you could FB back to stock.

I was on .181 and flashed the .79 leak. Then I fastbooted back to .181 with no issues. I'm on vacation away from a computer for an extended period of time and I wanted to be on GB in case the OTA came out.

A great post. Good advice for all who are considering rooting or flashing. Nearly all problems suffered by those who are new are from missing something in the instructions along the way.

I'm rooted and I'm fully comfortable with that... yet, I want to wait for the OTA (after of course making sure I can stay rooted)

Just looking at all the crap running on my phone....really want Ics NOW to freeze all garbage lol.

Freeze it, then when the OTA drops, unfreeze it.

He's referring to the fact that ICS allows you to freeze any app natively within the OS without the need for root or a separate app. It's definitely a great thing for people who don't want to root their phone.

One of a few really nice features in ICS that I am definitely looking forward to.

I'm not rooted yet :-( too scared to do it without knowing exactly what to do hehe
Ah, for some reason I thought I saw you were rooted somewhere. My bad lol

I agree, it is a nice feature. I didn't use it since I knew I was going to go back to GB. I just deleted all the bloat lol
