need some help guys! i had my coworker running .0.9.5 for the past week or so, and he said he sometimes will be in the middle of something and all of a sudden the sapphire boot animation would start up. i just figured it was something funky with .0.9.5 or something, so today he gave me his phone so i can update to 1.0.0.
i wiped three times, then i flashed sapphire, gapps, the blackbar theme, and some samsung LWPs, in SPrecovery, and then rebooted the phone. as soon as finish the android setup and it starts to sync, the sapphire boot animation popped up, and then after about 3 seconds i was back at the lock screen.
any ideas? i've never heard of such behaviour before. it's not even doing a full restart, the M logo never comes up.
I don't know if it really matters, but I like just installing base+gapps, then rebooting to let my apps sync. Once that's done I install my theme.
Instead of installing the themes and the LWPs straight away, see if you can reproduce the problem after the install of just base+gapps.

That is the ONLY thing I was able to make work for me. Initially when I skipped logging in and tried to use Titanium, I'd get the insta-reboot, as well. NOTE - This is *NOT* specific to Sapphire!!! I got this behavior in the OTA 2.2 root rom that Pete released, too. I did something different with that one that eventually got me up and running again, but, I don't remember what it was. But if I skipped logging in and tried to restore anything, including just system data, with titanium, even the market would reboot the phone when it installed the apps! It was CRAZY!
Thought someone mentioned this already but I didn't see a bug for it on their "bug tracker" so I added it.
while playing music and the screen off, long pressing the volume rocker skips
the track but keeps skipping even after the rocker is released.
Obviously I did a full wipe before installation
Great job guys!
I always log-in on the welcome screen after a wipe. And I like having my apps auto-sync. I know you want to get in there and play, but once I log in I just put the phone down and walk away.

cvpcs is aware of this. You can file the bug if you're so inclined, though.

I figured he was aware. Do you happen to know if he will be putting out an update, or not fixing it till the next release?

That's crazy talk! It's more problematic for me though. I don't have a 3g signal at home, so, I have to either log in and let it sit there and go "hey, buddy, where's your signal? How about wifi??" or I skip it, turn wifi on, then add my account manually and hope for the best. I got sick of both of those so I've been using Titanium to just restore everything after bypassing the login. That puts my wifi stuff back along with all my accounts, etc. But, even just restoring system settings and NOTHING else and then attempting to let the market sync, it rebooted the phone. It was ugly. I was not happy as people in IRC yesterday could attest to.

He said he has to find and fix this bug. It's a multi-threading issue which if you're familiar at all with software development is similar in nature to getting a flea to dance on the head of a pin. Basically it's going to take a fair bit of work for him to find and kill this bug. One user reported it was very prevalent when using Pandora, so maybe that'll help him repro it consistently. That's the first step in finding what's wrong and fixing it.

Ah, ok...yeah no signal at all when trying to log-in will be problematic.

I'm gonna go have a little "chat" with my VZW store this weekend about that signal issue. At the very least they can discount me a femtocell. Cause 250 bucks.....that'd just about cover my ETF at this point. And with AT&T having full signal on the tower a quarter mile from my house now..... HEHEHEHE, yea, I can be evil at times.
Thanks for the info. I heard about Pandora (havn't tried myself) but it was doing it for me with EliotStocker, so it must be system wide.

Yea, it is, but, he spent quite a while working on it and he wasn't able to fully fix it before the 1.0.0 release. With pandora appearing to trip it very consistently at least for the one user, that may allow him to track it down faster. Multi-threaded programming can really be a nightmare if not done right. Don't worry, I have full faith and confidence that he'll find and kill it.
