Holy Finishing Touches Batman, it's Sapphire 1.0

The issue is im doing this all from the phone. I don't have my usb cable. So obviously i can't download the file because i don't have androzip install and the market app is not even installed.

Pretty halfass if you ask me. Back to BB.

Half ass is copy and pasting over a stock ota rom and adding a few scripts. Im just saying..

Sent from my Droid

Now Now.... no need to go there 'Not Bill'...lol :p
I'm a fan of both, so lets all just get along... :D

i am a complete noob when it comes to flashing roms and i had ZERO problems installing this. i just followed the directions CLOSELY and it was super easy. this latest ver of sapphire was only the 2nd time i flashed a rom. don't see what the issue is with some complaining. it is a CLEAN rom and worth the couple extra steps to do it right. .. just sayin' ...

Couldn't agree more! This rom is awesome!!

...we find that the source built rom is absolutely the most stable piece of work out there. To each their own.
My experience with this ROM was -- no disrespect intended -- underwhelming. I fail to see the appeal of this.

For one thing, I would like to know what you mean by "most stable." I've been using stock leaked ROMs with various themes for weeks, with only very minor redraw delays to complain about. After installing Sapphire 1.0 (with gapps), 2 hours later, I had contacts restored, but none of my downloaded apps were restored (they all showed as "downloading" in perpetuity), and aside from being able to change some text colors in the "Gem Settings" menu, I saw no appreciable functional difference from stock 2.1. I did like some of the live wallpapers it came with, but everything else was pretty bland. After trying to jumpstart the app downloads with a reboot, to no avail, I finally gave up and restored my backed up system.

I did wipe data (several times) prior to installing this. From reading here and at the wiki site, I expected some initial slow performance, but two hours is more than enough time to give, IMO. If only there was some indication of something worth waiting for...

For some it's more stable, for others, maybe not. To each his own. I find it very smooth and stable with no fc's. Most rom's are pretty stable, but this one never lets me down. Use what you like, and if you have a better experience with something else, then by all means, knock yourself out.

I also think that when people read reviews that they go into something with expectations too high. Out of all the roms out there, I think the top ones are Sapphire, Cyanogen, Lithium, and SS, simply for the customizations available and overall stability. That being said, they're all very similar, and it depends on what runs best on your phone.

Not getting past market apps sync would be underwhelming... never had that happen loading up Sapphire. And Gmail contacts sync up in a few minutes for me after loading up Sapphire.

That's why you always make a backup of your apps with a backup app or script. In the case where market apps aren't restored (it isn't a sure thing with froyo) I would just go into the applications, clear the data of the market, install TB and restore my apps. Though last night i had to reflash sapphire because of a bad theme attempt on ADW last night, I was able to get all my apps restored within a couple mintues and able to reset all my screens back to how they were. It is all about being prepared when it comes to things like this, in which it seems you weren't.

Also, sapphire has some amazing features the no roms either have, or sapphire has implemented it better.

Sapphire was the first with Volume Rocker controls + Camera for controlling the music.

Sapphire's reboot option is a lot more appealing and way better made than some other implementations.

Vixie-CRON, persistant compcache, scriptybox, built in cpu controls, and the amazing GEM settings.

These are just some of the few things that sapphire can do and with plenty more to come. Some people just either don't appreciate the finer things or they don't look hard enough.
