How to correctly unroot the Incredible

We're happy that you are finally sorted out. We all do the best we can to help posters with whatever issues they have but it is difficult to do so when the poster continues the discussion over the course of several days and we lose track of what has and hasn't been tried. Had you looked back a few pages you would have seen that Doug suspected you were using an old file that was not his, and he provided you with the link to the new file that is in the OP. You also mentioned a video, but Doug did not make it. Overall, this whole situation could have been solved in one fell swoop (which is how we prefer to manage issues such as yours). Regardless, best of luck with your Incredible in the future.

Arepeggiate, on the off chance that you come back, which I suspect you will even though you claim to be riding your high horse elsewhere, I suggest you SEVERELY change your tone. The rest of the staff is being much kinder to you than I have an inclination to be. Everyone on this staff works VERY hard to help everyone and does it without being paid a dime. I can't tell you the number of nights I and other members have stayed up all night helping people. Which we volunteer to do.

So if you do come back, you'd better learn some tact, sincerity and appreciation. Otherwise I can tell you quite personally I will make your stay here VERY short lived. The "goodbye post" you left is unwarranted and childish, and the only reason I am leaving it is as a reason of how NOT to be a member of this forum.

Thank GAWD for this post

I just bought my Incredible 3 days ago from a Craigslist seller, and didn't realize the phone was rooted until I saw SuperUser. I rooted my old Eris, but the Incredible was giving me a Force Close on EVERY app I use daily: RunKeeper, YouTube, ADW.Launcher, etc. I followed the steps and now my phone is pipin' hot n' fresh!

well apparently i missed a step :( my phone still has s-off but its stock i still have a clockwork folder on my sd. and market is acting weird. any idears?

It won't get rid of your clockwork folder. After you get s-off that's when you rename the other file and place it on the root of your sd card. Then boot into hboot and it will locate and ask you if you want to install that file. After you select yes, don't mess with it till it until it's completely finished.

ok rename what file?

If you can still get into Hboot and recovery, you can try the steps to unroot again. Make sure you follow through all the steps this time.

As for the clockworkmod folder, going back to stock does not change anything on your SD card. The folder will still be there until you delete it yourself.

I saw you post over at the Incredible Forum, will be helping you there.

Not sure if this was asked or answered yet but...

After you unroot can you take the .zip file off of the SD card? Do you need to keep the .zip file there for it to work or after it's finished can you delete it?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Once you unroot, you can delete the zip file.

Hey guys, need some help.

I rooted my phone back in September and I may sell it so I'm trying to unroot. I did unrevoked3, and I have S-On. Other than that I haven't changed anything but I'm running Virtuous v3.1.0.

I'm trying to follow this guide but my phone won't recognize the PB31IMG file, even though it's on the root of my SD card. My card is formatted for FAT32 as well.

I'm trying the second option, I get "RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.26.605.1_Rad io_2.15.00.07.28_2k4k_NV_1.70_PRL58006_release_152 016_signed.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I'm on a mac and i'm attempting to do this on my mom's dell and have been for awhile, just no luck. help?

thanks guys.
