[HOW TO] Install the leaked Android 4.0.4 ICS build on the Droid 4 (XT894)

Rom Manager doesn't cause ClockworkMod Recovery to install the rom - presumably because Rom Manager can't install CWM in the first place. Trying to install CWM for Droid 4 causes Rom Manager to say that Droid 4 is not supported. How am I the only one that this is the case?

I didn't use it to install the leak I had the leak on my phone for a week but I wanted to undo what I did to the leak user wise so I did a data wipe I never said I was trying to flash the leak

You mentioned "unsafe" side which is a term used when running safestrap. Did you install the leak and then installed safestrap?

Also every thing on safe side aka custom roms still work fine and display fine

So you are running on an ICS leak, installed SS, and have a rom installed? Now you wiped data on the safeside and you're having problems? Try factory reset.

I don't think CWM works on the D4, use safestrap to install roms. It's much safer.

Is there an updated tutorial that goes through the complete process using Safe Strap? I've switched to Safe, and do "choose zip from sdcard", select Blur_Version.6.13.219.XT894.Verizon.en.US.zip, and it fails with an error 6, with the log stating an assert failed on install_zip (IIRC). Does Safe Strap need a different zip file layout than Rom Manager does? I also tried with the unpacked zip in the original post, and it just immediately says install aborted. Thanks for the help.

Why do people keep using safestrap to install a leak? I hate to say this but do people read these instruction?

YOU CANNOT INSTALL A LEAK VIA SAFESTRAP.

No because you don't use safestrap to update a stock build. The "leaks" patch stock GB build, so you can't have a custom recovery installed.

Judging by the name of the file you are selecting it looks like you attempting to install an ICS leak update file. This can only be done via stock recovery. Please see orangechoochoo's rant on previous page. ; )

So you caanot get into the stock system at all? Did you hold power and volume up & down at the same time to get into the stock recovery screen? From there you can do a factory reset and then reboot into ICS.

Yes, I am. This thread is *supposed* to be a how to, but since neither Clockwork (doesn't support Droid 4) nor Safe Strap (can't install leaked rom) nor stock recovery (wont read from internal SD card) can be used, this how to's "method 2" is complete nonsense. Looks like I'll have to get an SD Card and try "method 1". Unless there's some other way to install a leaked rom? Thanks for the help.

I got into stock recovery and wiped data and still nothing or is there a different way to do factory reset from recovery

Come on you guys, safestrap is not used for instaling leaks.

That's how it's done, get into recovery and select wipe data/factory reset.

I assume the ICS update leak file is still on your sd card, so what you can do is go into recovery and install the leak again.

So I won't have to go threw the process to go from one leak to another or will i
