[HOW TO] Install the leaked Android 4.0.4 ICS build on the Droid 4 (XT894)

Droid 4 utility updated in my signature will flash all the GB files, if you were on ics before then the ics only tool should work. It will write over your system folder.

Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2

You're not supposed to do it with RSDLite, you're supposed to use the Droid4 Utility to flash 219 and the ICS kernel. Then you apply the ICS update via recovery.

ok so i tried reflashing and updating n the tool froze and my fone is bricked >.< i tried to reflash and it didnt work n now my device is lock in AP Fastboot -___________________- i am losing all hope and idk what to do anymore except file for a claim for a replacement fone....

when I try to fastboot using the droid 4 utility it sits waiting for device never moves any farther than that. However the tool works for everything else I have tried.

If you using the Droid 4 Tool Update to flash GB selecting option 1 or 2, then you have to put the phone in fastboot first. Use menu 9 or do it manually.

i tried running fastboot on my roommates computer and it worked but it got to a part and there was an error it seemed to finish up just fine and then boot. i tried to flash the ICS .215 after still got the same failed error code.

I'm running rooted and rommed with eclipse rom on gb, can I. Just turn safesystem off and the install the flash boot files that way or do I have to flash on the stick files then unroot? Just a little confused as of right now lol.

Try this: toggling back to your stock system, uninstall the custom recovery in the safestrap app, using a file explorer go to the system/bin folder, look for the file logwrapper and logwrapper.bin. Delete the logwrapper file and rename the logwrapper.bin to just logwrapper. If that doesn't work then I would suggest using rsd lite and restoring to stock.

You should also uninstall the safestrap app to there are two different versions one for ICS one for GB. You can install voodoo rootkeeper to keep your root. Just install then temporary unroot and then reroot, then flash the ICS update in stock recovery.

Followed the directions for flashing with an SD card and it worked like a charm. Well, after I re-flashed it a few times because Windows decided to go to sleep in the middle of my first flash and caused the phone not to take the .219 files any longer and soft-brick. Had to buy a Factory Cable from a store on eBay in China, wait 2 weeks for it to get in, flash to .215 then to .219, then apply the updates as listed.

Loving ICS on the D4. SOOOOOOO much better than the stock GB OS. I wanted to throw the phone against a wall for the longest time, but now it's super-responsive and sleek. This is how the phone should have been launched in the first place.

Thank you! Everything worked as described! When I first booted up, I got scared because the home screen app crashed a few times, but it stopped and is now working great! 4G, camera, and HD video works great! Now to investigate CM9....

EDIT: Flash works in Browser app, but not Chrome.

Finally got ICS on my phone and almost instantly put CM9 on it. everything is working great. I also experienced the home screen crashing a few times while I was on stock ICS. Thanks to everyone for the help while i was trying to make the jump to ICS.

Does this fix the 4G drop issues on 2.3.6? Any way to restore back to 2.3.6 yet (for future updates) or intentionally brick (te-he) for warranty purposes?

quick noob question, if ive only done root and nothing else do i still need to do step one? I dont really want to download a gig file ~_~

(have little to no desire to go back to 2.3, and went through 25 pages and diddnt see an answer, sorry)
