LOL! You called it "the phone" I guess I'm so used to seeing endless garbage about the iPhone that my brain just filled in the "i". My bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if it came out on the 17th. Think about it, the new policy starts the 16th right? Anyone who buys a new phone before then won't be able to trade it in even with the 30 days.

I have a D1 and I suggest that you buy the D1, root it, and put Cyanogenmod on it. That should last you for a while. I also suggest you try out the Zeam launcher-- it's fast and full of features.

Well, I took the plunge and picked up a Droid 1 for $100 from Craigslist earlier today, rooted it and I couldn't be happier, man this phone is fast(compared to the Eris anyways). I feel like I could actually hold onto this phone for a while til the 4G phones get released! Thanks for the suggestions to go ahead and do it!

The data modem is 3G/4G compatible so I see no reason why the mobile hotspot would care what part of the modem we are on. Especially given that 4G will not be everywhere until end of 2012.

As for release date, its shaping up to be February 11th (or 14th) but the 11th seems to be more likely. The odd part is the sudden surge of info on the XOOM, especially given the fact at CES they said it wasn't ready. Its pretty clear they want it out before the iPad 2 arrives.

They were probably just under advertising it so all these "leaks" would get people more excited for an early arrival, that's just my take on it though

I mobile Hot Spot feature is currently $20 I think, or you can root your Android and, well you know what you get with rooting.

My company is about to switch our 80 lines or so over to Verizon. We innocently asked our sales rep today when the Tbold would be out and he said the rumors are it will be out before the Iphone.

There is that other post in this thread that talks about the MAP coming out on 1/21 and there is history of phones coming out 6 days after MAP comes out. That is consistent with what our rep said.

In the end, nobody seems to know for sure. Nobody that posts on forums, that is.
