I can't help but laugh at those who try to pump the Bionic over the Bolt

Wow it's just a phone you guys get over it. Dual core processors mean nothing unless the OS optimizes it. Like take the iPhone for example. The 3GS ran at 600 MHz and it was still incredibly fluid and responsive.

What I'm saying is that unless Android begins to optimize their OS for dual core, it won't really matter ;)

MOTO already said they did optimize it for dual core. But who cares? Still has blur.

I used to own the D1 and I loved it. I also liked the D2, the DX and now the Thunderbolt. But I certainly don't feel the need to attack phones I don't own. (Because if you think about it... does it make any sense? LOL)

What is the source of your passion? Are things that boring over in the D1 threads?

If you ran through the whole Droid series of phones within a year then maybe android isn't for you, or at least Motorola isn't for you. I'm suprised it took u three phones to jump ship. If you want to blow a couple of hundred on smartphones every 3 months then no one stopping you. Seems like a waste of money. My main complaint is the hardware inside the thunderbolt is from mid 2010 and the only tying bringing it to today's standards is the network. Not the phone, I buy a phone for what its capable of, hardware wise. Not everyone is me though, and Verizon marketing this as a "high end phone" is a complete lie.

Then is sounds as though you don't understand what you are talking about on many levels. First off it's not a couple hundred... it is full price. And secondly I love Android which is why I am still with it... lol. Also what do you mean by "jumping ship"? Do you mean HTC instead of Motorola? If so I can answer that very easily but you may need to look it up to understand what I mean... :) The reason I went with the T-Bolt was the unlocked bootloader which allows me to load "real" roms just like I could on my D1. The D2 and DX, and all future Motorola phones have encrypted locked bootloaders and the roms that are available cannot enjoy custom kernels. Cyanogenmod will be available for the T-Bolt very soon.

I also buy the phone for what it is capable of, "see explanation above". I did not buy the T-Bolt for the processor or the ram.... I enjoy the phones and it's not a waste of money if you can afford it. I understand that many can only get a new phone every few years, but there is no reason to be so passionate over the model number of a processor.

How much do you really know about dual-core vs. Single core performance specifically in these phones and how much are you talking out if your ass? How many applications can actually take advantage both cores? Wont that be a while before things start to get integrated? I feel the 1gz chip in the tb is plenty fast for the applications needed

Actually I know if the thunderbolt had dual core processors they would draw less power which means less heat and heighten battery life, also making it more efficient. Not only would it fly through today's applications but also be ready for the future when applications inevitably start using dual core as an advantage.

Present your data before making statements like this.
That really doesn't make sense that dual core would draw less power than a single core does it?
One would naturally think two engines would consume power twice as fast...
Do you have the technical specs of the dual core system to compare to the single core system? If so present your data I would like to see it.

Yeah.. no.

It would cause less heat/power consumption than a single core x2 due to the sharing between the cores but since there is 2 it will have to run both cores which create heat and drain more battery. Just look at how big the battery of the Bionic is (1930?) compared to the Thunderbolt (1400).

The only thing that itches me are that these phones do not support the new sd cards. I dont need a freakin 10 Mbps connection to browse my emails, or forums, or any web page for that matter. I'd need it to stream super high quality movies, sure, but mainly with speeds like that I'd be torrenting all day. And a 32 GB card doesnt suit those needs. To each his own, though.

Ok let me get this straight.....
You payed full price for the D2, the DX, and the TB ranging between 400 to 600 retail. I'm gonna round it to $1500. You payed $1500 for custom roms and the still unavailable cynogenmod for the TB. Things that are available on the D1... you ran through $1500 to basically do what your D1 did at the start with more processing power and ram. Wooow... I think you are one of those people that have money but no common sense other then to get the latest in greatest. You make no sense, if you didn't buy the thunderbolt for the hardware specs over the D1, then what is your phone for other then for show and tell till the next thing comes out. You sir should of just kept your D1 and saved your self over a grand...And don't say "I got the money" cause I think if everyone on this forum had the chance to save $1500, they would take it unless their fools.

Sheesh... the only thing that you said that is close to being correct is that the D1 was a great phone...

But beyond that... you win... hows that... :)

Ok number one compare the thunderbolt to a dual core phone that's already out ok?
Tmobile G2x (dual core 1ghz processor) has a 1500mAh battery while the thunderbolt has a lower 1400mAh battery in that slight 100mAh the G2X talk time is 7.8 hours and the thunderbolt 6.3...no doubt the Thunderbolt should of came with a bigger battery but if it did come with a 1500mAh battery they've probably be about the same.

Oh a P guy here is your link of a short article on how Tegra 2 (which is used on the G2x) uses less power then Tegra one

ships usually have more than one engine, they turn off engine(s) when they dont need full speed/power to save fuel.

Okay, how about the Atrix...

Sure if you barely use your phone or do things that dont require a high CPU load, it will use less battery but why the hell would anyone using a dual core phone not take advantage of that? As more dual core apps come out (Tegra Game Zone and many other games) the CPU will get ramped up creating more heat and draining more power. But if you use your phone to browse the internet and make calls, then yes it will share the load and have less power drain.

Lol yea I'm really starting to hate motoblur.. There's always lag somewhere in the Ui. In gingerbread blur if there's a live wallpaper everything will slow down majorly. Time to sell this Droid x

What I'd like to know is why are the TB haters posting in TB forums?

Trolls.

EXACTLY!!! Lol...just hatn cuz theyre in the past and cant stand we r ahead of them technology wise "HATERS GNA HATE" always and forever...holla at us when ur on our block till then i cant hear ya ur too far back in time
