ICS Battery life

How did you figure it was the play store? mine is still saying media is draining the battery and I can not figure what is causing it.

I did 2 factory resets and fully charged and look media drained 10 percent without Any use already I cannot figure out what is causing this. Anyone have any ideas? Help please I am so frustrated. I can stop the media app from running but feel i should not have to do that and would like to know what is causing it.
Thanks in advance

What do you mean "you can stop the media app from running?" If it's an app, you should be able to stop it. However, I'm not sure if "media" is actually referring to an app. After you did your fdr, did you reinstall your apps? If so, maybe you should do another and make sure you don't reinstall the apps. I don't even have "media" on my screen...what is it? If necessary, just tap on it and choose "force stop."

Here is a screenshot. I just force closed it

I could be mistaken, but I think media includes ad delivery, so if you have an app that constantly pulls ads, I think that may show up under media. In any case, I've definitely read that free apps that pull ads can be a hidden source of battery drain.

Is the Razr Maxx HD " the new high speed droid " everyone was talking about? Im running my X2 and have an upgrade I can take advantage of..

Well the phone did great during the day yesterday. Charged up fast, discharged very slow. But I plugged it in before bed (powered on) at about 80%, and 7.5 hours later when I woke up the batt is at 70%... :( Can't be MotoCast, I figured out that I have never set it up & enabled it.

How do you guys generate those awesome battery usage charts with the BadAzz Battery app? I installed the pro version but I can only seem to get 2 or 3 simple charts out of it.

In BadAzz Battery, I was able to see a chart of battery % vs. "phone signal", and the phone signal number was very high in the wee hours of the morning. But is it signal strength, or usage of the phone's radio?

It has gotten better since i forced close. O guess i will have to force it till i figure out what it its.

Be aware juice defender kills your push email but it will save you a ton of battery life.

Email that you have set to be pushed to your phone.

This means your phone is synced to your email account, and you automatically receive a notification about the arrival of a new email on your phone within moments of it hitting your inbox. The email is automatically pushed to your phone instead of you having to retrieve the email by manually checking for it.

performing factory reset! i hate to start from scratch but its a sacrifice that i'm willing to make to get the most out of my maxx.

Make sure that all your media (music, pics, videos) are located on your SD card. Not internal memory. Unmount and remove your sdcard and reboot. Let it go like that for a bit. Hour or two.

I don't remember if it was on this thread or a similar thread, but another person was having a similar problem. As it turned out he had some DRM protected content from yahoo. Yahoo had turned off their servers for drm content. His phone was constantly searching for permission for the content. Once he wiped out the file be had no problems. It would seem the ICS and DRM content don't get along very well.
If this helps, you'll have to figure out what file has the drm on it and delete it. Not sure how to do that. Maybe using a PC and check the properties of the files.

Ok so I've done a FDR and did not let anything restore... Re-installed all of my apps manually and reconfigured my settings.

I must say that the FDR without restoring any apps automatically tremendously helped my battery life. I'm at 5 hours now and at 70% battery. That's with about 30 minutes of music playing, 15 minute of phone calls, about 5 minutes of texting, and maybe 10 minutes of searching (with 4G). I'm assuming that's pretty good.

I doubt that I'll ever get 2 days and stuff like most of you, but whatever -- at least it has improved. Also, I did this FDR yesterday so, like others have stated, it may just need a few days of battery training. Other than what I've already done, I'm not about to invest anymore time in trying to optimize the battery -- I bought the phone to actually use it instead ^_^.
