ICS on the MAXX

Just wondering if anyone 1 else who was having spotty 4g coverage prior to getting ics , if ur still dropping 4g all the time with the update? I actually, for the first time since I've had my phone, did not drop 4g 1 time since I've updated to ics yesterday morning. I'm wondering if this has something to do with connectivity fixes within ics or if Verizon has just fixed the 4g outages??? Hoping that the update has fixed this problem.

I finally got the blasted update to complete on my phone. Now it seems as though my signal strength is MUCH WEAKER than before.

I'm in northern NJ, and our 4G blows, but 3G is (was) usually 5 bars. Now its 2-3 around my area. Took a trip up the NYS thruway yesterday, and I had BARELY ANY SIGNAL..... It was actually terrible. I changed my network to CDMA from Global just to see if that would help it from polling/hunting.

Now, my battery and signal are terrible. Thanks Google and Motorola for ruining what was a nice phone

Did you do a fdr? That fixes most problems and you will probably find that battery is better and everything runs very smooth.

Your phone signal is actually probably better than what toy think it is because apparently ICS meters the range differently. Someone on one of the threads was explaining that his wife with same phone on gb had 5 bars and he only had 2, in the same exact spot but when he checked the actual signal strength on both phones, his signal strength was actually much better... even though it only showed 2 bars.

The bars refer to your phone signal and not your data. The 3g or 4g icons with the arrows refer to you data transmission. If they are blue or white, then you have data activity with a connection. If it the arrows are gray, you still have a connection, just no data transmitting at that time.

Actually, blue means you're online and connected to Google's servers. White means you're online, but not connected to Google's servers. You can still transmit data while you're indicator is white, but a lot of things won't connect or work properly without the connection to Google's servers. And the bars indicate signal strength, which affects both voice and data.

The rest is spot on though, especially about how ICS represents the signal. :)

I noticed my phone is using a bit more battery than usual, I did a FDR after the update as well. Any tips? Maybe just calibrate the battery again?

Smart move. Although ICS has a lot to offer its hard leaving GB when you've known it for so long.
