Input For Upgrade

Yes. The original is called OG Moto X or Moto X 2013. Then the second one came out in 2014, and is commonly called Moto X 2014. The 2013 had all the same cool features I mentioned about the Droid Maxx and was fully customizable. It had a 4.7" screen. The Moto X 2014 has a 5.2" screen and bigger battery. The 2014 can still be a little pricey, since it is the current model. My wife had a custom 2013 and absolutely loved it. I just bought her a 2014 a few weeks ago for the bigger screen.

A lot has changed since the Bionic was new. I would hate to be in your shoes right now.....soooooo many excellent choices. Hope you can find something that you like and fits your personal needs. That's really all that matters.... As long as you are happy with your choice.

And maybe before this thread is over I can get @cr6 to admit that Moto phones are better than Samsung. [emoji1] Just kidding, Samsung does make great phones, I have one as a work phone. Just throwing a little jab out there in good fun.

ROFL! Yes, I do admit, Moto makes a very fine product, but..... [emoji6] [emoji6]

As mentioned earlier in the thread, you REALLY can't go wrong with any of the devices you're currently looking at. These days all the manufacturers have been knocking it out of the park. I know when I was looking to upgrade last year, (even though I'm a Sammy fan) I had a heckuva time trying to decide which device to go with.
I for one really enjoy the research process though, I always have when it comes to cars or tech related products.

Motorola really needs to work on branching out with their names. This is beyond confusing for someone who has been out of the loop for a few years....

Oh, mercy, this has been quite a weekend of catching up on newer technology. I haven't been able to financially keep up with latest and greatest since I now have to buy phones outright due to my UDP. I knew things had changed, but didn't follow what was going on knowing I would be pining for really expensive stuff I couldn't afford ;)
I have been researching and soul-searching trying to figure out what I want and what I can afford. Still leaning towards Motorola, but those Samsungs look mighty appealing too... All this because I have just about reached my limit of tolerance with my Bionic and need to do something before I throw it out my truck's window while driving at a high rate of speed...

I too enjoy the research part of purchasing techy things, but I wasn't prepared for so many choices that I would find appealing. I do know that the S5 is the most intriguing at the moment, but I don't know if I can financially swing it for a spur of the moment purchase out of frustration. I know it's not a lot, it's really not that much more than the others, but money is so tight right now I have to budget for purchases out of the norm.
The fact that the Motorola Maxx doesn't open for replacing the battery and the lack of an additional SD card bothers me. When I look at the S4, I think, "just go with the S5 and be done with it" LOL!
Y'all have been such a GREAT help! I've truly enjoyed reading your suggestions and advice! Thanks again!

You may want to consider selling your Bionic on Swappa or eBay to reduce your cash outlay.

That's a thought! I have three guys all on Bionic here at home. I know as soon as it were to sell it, someone would need a replacement LOL! However, I think if I bring a new "toy" into the house, everyone will suddenly be hit with phone-envy and more upgrades will ensue.

Thanks for making that suggestion! I will certainly consider it. Mine is in near-perfect condition living it's entire life in an Otterbox Defender case. Heck, I still have the box -- somewhere...

How's the battery life on the 2nd generation Moto Max compared to your Maxx? LOL! Nope, I still haven't pulled the proverbial trigger on buying something --- more choices -- more confusion... I WANT 'EM ALL!

Honestly, that's the only negative thing I can say about the phone. It is nowhere near as good as a Droid Maxx. Moto really should have put a bigger battery in the 2014 Moto X. They increased the phone from 4.7" (2013) to 5.2" (2014) and added cool new features, but didn't increase the battery size to accommodate the larger screen. It's not horrible battery life, but could be better; and nowhere near as good as a Droid Maxx or Droid Turbo. My wife usually gets around 8 hours before needing to charge it again to get through the evening. She is happy with that.

In between researching phones, I've been looking at various portable power packs LOL! Ya know, I really thought this was going to be a lot easier than it is... Sheesh, I have a Bionic, for cryin' out loud. Just about anything should make me happy, right?

Earlier, you mentioned you were getting ready to sell your Maxx. What are YOU moving up to?

I purchased a Droid Turbo the other day and waiting on shipping. The Droid Turbo is the latest Droid model, came out October 2014. There is nothing wrong with my Maxx, it is still an awesome phone. I just felt the urge to get something new. I just received a big bonus at work and felt like splurging on a new phone.

Oh, I totally understand. I have had to deliberately remove myself from this forum and not pay attention to the advances in smartphone technology or I would have been upgrading myself every year or two. Financially, I've not been in a place to do so without my "new every 2" discounts.... My Bionic has done well over the years, but I use it a lot for work and it's having a hard time keeping up with my expectations these days.
Good for you on taking the leap with the Turbo! That looks like an amazing device!
