Input For Upgrade

You don't sound like a bimbo to me. You sound like someone who is shopping smartly, weighing their options and sticking to a budget. Nothing wrong with that. Both of those phones are excellent. If you do buy a Droid Maxx their are lots of ways to work with no removable storage.

Sounds like you've narrowed your decision down quite well. Nothing wrong with familiarity with a brand either. Maybe this will help you a bit...

If I had to point out one flaw of my s4, it would be the radio. Sometimes the radio is just plain pathetic. Areas where my friends get signal I'm struggling with 2 bars maybe, or switching between 3g and 4g. At my office if I'm anywhere near the middle of the building (It's a circle and the exits are North and South. It's also just a two story building) I don't get a data signal and barely a signal to send a text message. That is the Achilles heel of this phone, but I feel everything else makes up for it. Touchwiz is a "heavy" UI, but I easily changed that with Google Now launcher, so if TouchWiz isn't your cup of tea, a third party launcher can easily fix that.

Yeah, I think I have all those ways to make a non-removable battery work saved on my Amazon Wish List :p. I have a pretty nice looking (specs) portable power source saved along with an Otterbox Defender (because I am really hard on my phones). Does the Maxx have the ability to do that wireless charge thing? That's a sweet idea that was just coming out when I got my Bionic. Gawd, I swear, I must sound like someone who just emerged from a cave after a long hibernation.
Now to figure out who has the best phone with the best price....:D

Yes. The Droid Maxx does support Qi wireless charging. You probably will never need a portable power pack with the awesome battery, but I carry one in my work bag just in case also. They are cheap these days and good to have around.

Right now, I'd be thrilled with any consistent connection for the sake of getting personal emails while I'm at work. I have never used a radio on a phone before. I currently use Spotify and that works flawlessly as long as my phone will hold a connection. I think I have an antenna problem going on. Wifi AND 3 or4G. Like I said before, there are 4 of us living under this roof and we ALL have Bionics (Smart mom, I got them what I had so they could teach me how to use it) -- I'm the only one with these connection problems.

I do love the specs on Samsung's cameras, but I can always continue to carry my little point and shoot or SLR when we go to special events (I probably would anyway) if I do go with the Maxx. My husband is a photographer, so we are a little picky with images. A nice camera in a smartphone would be great, but again, capturing special occasions has always been left to a "real" camera.

I truly appreciate your candor here, dezymond. Not everyone will admit shortcomings or disappointments in their phones. This group of folks have been more than helpful. I can't thank you ALL enough!

By "radio" I meant the cellular radio, which picks up a phone signal (just in case you weren't sure of what it does). Samsung, in the past at least, was known to have weaker radios compared to the competition. I have heard the s5 is a great improvement in radio signal compared to the s4, in case you wanted to splurge on a device a little bit.

As for camera quality...awesome with enough light. Indoors and night shots leave alot to be desired, especially compared with today's phones, but other than that I've taken very good shots. Even today I still have a hard time believing some of the shots I have on my phone are thanks to the phone itself. Samsung had the top camera back then, imo, and to this day it's still an impressive camera. And again, the s5 improves on the camera, so that's another major plus if one of your needs is pictures.

Oh, duh, I should have known what radio you were referring to LOL! I never had problems with connection problems until recently with my Bionic, but now it gives me fits. It won't move on and off wifi on it's own anymore. Not sure why, I've given it as much attention as I care to, and finally turned wifi off completely (hey, I have free data, right?) My 3 and 4 G (internet) connection is very weak in places where my boyz still have strong signal with theirs. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to me, and like I said, I've given it as much time and attention I care to, if not, more.... I'm done LOL Call connection has stayed strong, though. I've always been impressed with that. Between Verizon and my Bionic, I can use my phone for calls where many can't.
I've always heard (and seen) great things about Samsung's cameras. That's one place I feel Motorola has fallen short. I don't understand why they can't do a better job with theirs. That's where a lot of my confusion on making a decision comes into play. Ideally, I want a Motorola phone with a Samsung camera....

*quietly chanting* Samsung Samsung Samsung *chanting louder* SAMSUNG SAMSUNG *yelling chant* SAMSUNG SAMSUNG! [emoji6] [emoji6]
Just get the S5 and be done with it. They have great radios and great cameras. Plus removable battery and ext sd card.
Cost : Between 250-300 on Swappa.

I literally laughed out loud sitting here at work trying to look busy!

Ya know, I like the upgrades from my Bionic which the Droid Maxx offers (and I have that loyalty-thing to Motorola - though I shouldn't since the nasty ex used to work for them --- but the company took very good care of my family back in the day). However, I'm not as impressed with the Moto X 2nd Generation & not too keen on the S4, but impressed with the S5. If I had enough "play money" laying around, I think I would jump on the S5, but I simply can not justify spending that much money on myself right now. I know it's chump change compared to new phones, but I have a lot of outflow and not enough incoming right now. Did I mention I'm picking my FJ up from the shop tonight after having the torque converter and bearings replaced?
I'll root around under couch cushions tonight and see what I can find.

I understand completely..... [emoji106] [emoji2]

@cr6 : So now you can quietly start chanting "droid maxx...droid maxx...droid maxx.." ? You know you want to. :D Just kidding.

@Gudasau: I'm sure most of us have been / are in / or will be in similar situations. Hopefully you can find something that works better than what you have now and something you can be happy with for a while.

NEVER! You can't hypnotize me with that Droid eye of yours. I wear special glasses to prevent that sort of thing. [emoji12] [emoji6] hehe

Seriously though, I think you'll be very happy with the Maxx @Gudasau , especially coming from the bionic. It's a great device. [emoji2]
I think it was mentioned before, but when your Maxx arrives, (or whichever device you end up with) the very first thing you'll want to do is a factory data reset. This is very important. Especially on used devices.
And remember.....we're here for you if you have any problems along the way, so don't hesitate to ask. [emoji2]

Okay, thanks for the laughs, guys! I needed that today!
Ya know, there was a time when I always had the latest and greatest gadget out there, but those days are a sweet memory for me right now. I'll get back *there*, but right now, Gudasau just needs a freakin' phone that'll cooperate with her. I just bought a new battery and did a FDR on Saturday to try to get me along until I get something new-to-me in my paws. Yeah, I knew I would get myself all turned around and twisted trying to figure out which one would work when what I really want is the latest and greatest new toy on the market LOL!
Unless some generous distant relative leave me a chunk of change soon, it looks like I'll be going with the Maxx. Yes, cr6, I will be looking around for spare change in the furniture tonight :p
BTW, how did you guys tag? I can't figure that out on here?
