Input For Upgrade

I think any of the phones you have mentioned will be a pleasant upgrade from a Bionic. The Bionic was a great phone, but it is 4 years old now. All of the newer phones you are looking at will run much smoother and be hassle free

here's and idea sell your maxx to the OP

Great idea, but the rules do NOT permit it. Besides, Sajokaz and cr6 have got me looking at others too and I'm so confused my head is spinning LOL!

@Gudasau , head to a Verizon store or local electronic store and test out some devices. I always go to the store to test out devices before making my decision. In the case of my s4, I went to check it out about a week before my upgrade became available. I played around with the s4, HTC One, and I think one of the Droids, but ended up opting for the s4 after my week away from devices. You won't get much of the full experience (especially due to the locking devices on the back of the phone), but it's better than just reading up and comparing it with numbers and the opinions of others. After all, it'll be your device.

Yes, I do plan to do that on my way home from work today, but fear I will end up wanting THE latest and greatest instead of a step or two up from where I am now. A kid in a candy store kinda thing LOL!

Definitely know that feeling. And for sure a rep will be there to direct you towards the newer devices. Just say "just looking around" and hopefully they'll leave you be. That's what I usually say and I'm left to spend as much time as I want with the displays.

Yes, I will, thanks! I am assuming the Samsung S5 and Motor X are still in stores....

Yes, the S5 and Moto X 2014 are both still in Verizon stores. I don't think the Moto X 2013 is available is stores anymore though.

Depending on where I am mentally with spending money at any given second of the day, I go from The S4 and Maxx to the S5 and the Moto X 2014. I know I am just making myself crazy at this point. Hoping once I can play with a couple of these at the store (I pass one on my way home from work) I'll have a better idea of which direction I want to go.
Honestly, I have always been a huge fan of Motorola and their hardware quality, but the lack of being able to swap a battery on the fly is a bit troubling (remember I'm coming from a Bionic which had horrible battery issues). I know I can get around that with a portable power source, but...
I do like the sample images I've seen coming from the Samsung better than Motorola. See? I am just driving myself crazy
Then I worry about all the "fluff" these phones have. What will frustrate me and what will I think is cool... I don't need a heartbeat monitor nor the majority of goodies offered these days, but I would like my phone to have some of the newer and cooler doo-dads and gizmos.
I run a wholesale distribution center with a storefront. I've been asking each one of my clients what kind of phone they have. All are either Samsung S5 or S6 or Apple. I've yet to get my hands on ANY newer Motorola today *sigh*. Hey, there's still a couple of hours before my store closes, so all hope isn't lost in the day LOL

You gotta figure out what you need in your phone. The reason I chose the s4, two years ago, was mainly because of the removable battery and SD card. I was very close to getting the One, but those two features that only Samsung offered at the time was the reason I went with them, mainly the battery.

You're definitely going to find more people own an iPhone or a Samsung device. They're the two largest manufacturers right now and they really put an emphasis on their "user friendliness" or features when it comes to advertising. Motorola commercials, I wouldn't say they really advertise in the same way that Apple and Samsung do, and majority of the time people with Moto devices are on Verizon, where they are under the Droid lineup.

I'm planning to go against the grain with my next upgrade, I'm going with the Xperia z4v. Why? Because I always wanted an Xperia device and they are very solid devices. Sony just doesn't have the same presence in the US compared to other parts of the world. They have great cameras, expandable memory, great battery, and the build quality is top notch. So as soon as that device drops on Verizon I'll be in line as soon as I can that day.

Sorry I went on a bit of a rant, but yes, I'm itching for an upgrade :p

I hate to muddy up the waters even more but if you're going to be using it a lot for business purposes the Note3 (or even Note2 for that matter because it's still a very relevant spec'd device) bring a LOT of business usage ability into the mix with their built in productivity tools.

Honestly, I don't use my phone for work and have a desktop and laptop I work on at home and professionally. I truly only use my phone for calls, texting, surfing when I'm out and about, calendar reminders and the map. OH! And to check radar LOL! I don't play games on it and rarely use it for emails unless it's an urgent business need and I'm away from a computer. I did consider the Notes but decided that was more than I could afford right now. Thanks for your suggestions. Yeah, you kinda muddied these waters a bit, but what the heck, it's already pretty darn opaque!

Okay, went to Verizon on my way home. A big corporate one so lots to look at and play with. The had the S5 and the Droid Maxx, but no Moto X II (or 2014). I did get to check out the Turbo and S6, but only took a tiny peek so I wouldn't depress myself. AWESOME pieces of equipment out these days, wow!
I didn't *see* must difference between the Samsung and Motorola, honestly. I know the screen is supposed to be crisper with the S5, but it wasn't very apparent to these eyes which have been looking at a Bionic for 4 years. As far as the "feel" in my hand, I didn't notice a big difference between the two -- both considerably different than my Bionic in an Otterbox Defender...
I think I'm going to go with the lower end for now and can always pawn it off on my husband or one of my son's if I don't like it or feel the *need* to make a bigger jump to the S5 or Moto X 2014 (or whatever the appropriate name is). For now, I just want a phone that functions a lot better than what I have. Wish I were in a spot where I could really splurge, but I just can't right now. Even the lowest price is a stretch at the moment. :(
Back to the Droid Maxx or S4.... Leaning more towards the Motorola since I'm familiar with that brand....
Hope this makes sense and I don't come across as so stupid bimbo...
