Just got unlimited data added to my account today

It is a little odd how it shows up on my account now. "Unlimited email and web for smartphones(personal email)" That's what it says now, and that option was never even visible before. All the other options just mention "data" at various amounts. The My Verizon Data widget says "unlimited," and obviously I'm not complaining, just noting how it looks different on the bill now.

I saw some posts that mentioned the possibility of Verizon bringing back unlimited data as an option in the future to help compete with At&t and Sprint. I have to think, even if they did that, it would probably be at a higher price, like $50 or so? Maybe, maybe not... I know I almost went with Sprint because of the data, but decided to stay with Verizon. I'm sure there are others that have switched over. Verizon does have superior coverage in my area though.

Just got it added myself today. I'll check out the hotspot to see if I like it. If I don't in a couple days I'll cancel and see if it stays. If not oh well, if it does yay for me.

Because the hotspot feature is an extra $30 and if I don't like it I'll cancel the hotspots and hope the unlimited stays

Unlimited data does stay even if you remove the hotspot feature. I removed hotspot feature through internet literally 5 minutes after I got the unlimited, and I still am enjoying the unlimited data (it's been about a month now). And there is a functional wifi tether app available to you for free :)

I had thought it was included with unlimited data for $29.99. CS denies that anything unlimited exists unless you are grandfathered.

Only way you can get unlimited data is with the hotspot. I called yesterday and told her I wanted the hotspot. She initially said that I would be capped at 2gb for the hotspot at $20/month. I then told her a buddy of mine had gotten the hotspot with unlimited, kinda pointless to have 5 things using your phone for only 2gb/month. She told me to hold on a minute and came back and said that she didnt even know but since i was a 4g phone that the hotspot came with unlimited for $30/month.
Last night I got online and deleted the hotspot and I still have unlimited data. Its two separate entries in your plan. So now I pay $.01 less than 4gb month:p

Well, here goes nothing. A couple days ago, I submitted a request to have my plan for 2 cell phone lines modified to include the "unlimited web and email for smartphones (personal email)". I received a response from a Verizon CS Rep via email telling me I gave him the wrong password. It was 6:37AM so he told me he would have called but it was too early in the morning. He referred me back to their CS system and asked me to re-submit my email request with the correct password before I could get any further assistance.

I just finished submitting my request. I hope to get a favorable response soon and will post an update with whatever response I do receive. Judging by the multiple attempts people have made via the phone line, if I get rejected the first time, I'll keep trying.

Oh yes, I did call the *611 number, twice and wasn't successful with navigating to a person. The first time, I thought I was getting transferred but then the line disconnected me. The second time, I got sent to a black hole by my phone entry. The silence lasted a short while, then I got disconnected again. That's why I ended up re-submitting my original email request to the CS folks via the Verizon site on my 2nd attempt. So this makes my 4th attempt technically speaking as I wait to hear back...

Tick tock... tick tock...

Man, I didn't realize how many MB video files would add up to be using the Verizon Video feature at the added $10 surcharge. There are a lot of cool shows I'd like to watch when I want to but I blazed through 1GB of data in about 36 hours after activating the feature. It adds up fast! I'm on a double data plan at 6GB with 2GB Wifi Hotspot but I could easily go through 6GB watching a few of my favorite shows at my leisure. My fingers are crossed that my plan will also be modified! Wish me luck!

I'm paranoid even though I've seen multiple replies that stated the unlimited data stayed after the hotspot feature was removed. One is listed under Features, and the other under Minutes, Text, or Data. The hotspot would be nice to have, but I don't know if I would use it enough to justify the $24. It lists at 20% off on my bill. I don't suppose there is a way to use the hospot without rooting, and I don't really want to do that right now. Maybe in the future sometime....

I was able to call this morning and add the hotspot with unlimited. Didn't even have to ask about it. She offered it, she did try to have me bundle it but I kept it apart so I could remove it later ... Went online to remove it and kept unlimited data for 29.99 (this was on my thunderbolt)

Were you grandfathered on the data?

I was grandfathered in previously on my parents plan. But then got the thunderbolt on my own account. So I lost the unlimited and had the 2gb then changed with the double in November

Maybe that is what triggered it then. I've talked to at least 6 reps with no luck. In September I switched from Sprint.

Possibly but I switched my number because I'm in a different state. So nothing is linked. Are you asking about adding the hotspot? Then just make sure its unlimited data. Good Luck

Thanks. I have the hotspot with 12 gigs but i would much rather pay $30.00 than $70.00 ($56.00 after discount)
