Just got unlimited data added to my account today

Well, I decided to give it a try, Called CS, explained to then that it would not let me add the 4G hotspot, since it required unlimited data, she knew exactly what I was talking about, but stated that as soon as I removed the mobile hotspot feature it would revert my data plan back to 4gb. As soon as we got off the phone I went and removed the hotspot, during the feature change it showed the data reverting to unlimited for $29.99/mo, and if I go to change my data package it shows my package as unlimited.

I think it's only for 4G phones, and has nothing to do with a previous data plan. I've been with Verizon over 10 years, and this is my first smart phone and data plan, about 1 month ago when I got my Bionic. I wonder if it's really something that sort of 'fell through the cracks,' or if Verizon is fully aware and just doesn't care.... For all the fuss about getting rid of unlimited data, it just seems strange for this to be so easy to do.

With a 4g phone all I am offered and have is the dbl data with hotspot.

Sign into My Verizon. On the main page, under "I want to..." and "Plan" click "Change Features." Scroll down and you should see "Wireless Internet Access" you should see "4G Mobile Hotspot." That's the specific feature you have to ask for when you call 611. You won't be able to add it from the website. If you click "Tell Me More" that' where it says it requires an unlimited data plan of 29.99 or higher.

Edit: this in on the full website, not your phone's My Verizon widget.

Great success!!! Just called up, asked for mobile hotspot and the guy put it on no problem. I said to him "so my data plan is the same, 4 gigs per month?" and he says "yea...yep, you have 4 gigs per month...wait a minute...the system is updating....oh...wow, I've never seen this before! The system just gave you unlimited data!!!! This is crazy, I thought you couldn't get this anymore!" hahahah with a big smile I said "wow, thats great thanks so much." LOL He told me it was my lucky day and we said our goodbyes only i didnt hang up at first and neither did he...all of a sudden I hear him say "Hey Charlie! Yo I just gave this kid the hotspot and the system updated him to unlimited data! Ive never seen that before. Crazy ****." hahahahaha its nice when the little guys get in on a loop hole every once in a billion years! Thanks so much for this post guys...saved me a ton of money and also piece of mind, priceless.

I gave up on this. All cs would offer me is the hotspot with the dbl data.

I think that some people may be screwing themselves by asking about unlimited data when adding the unlimited hotspot. If you add the hotspot and then see that your data has not changed, call back and tell them that the hotspot addition was not added properly because data is also supposed to switch to unlimited. Remember, a lot of these reps don't know WTF is going on. All you're doing by asking too many questions is confusing them. Put yourself in the driver's seat and you should have no problem.

I just got my dad a phone last night and called this morning and told CS that i went to add 4G mobile hotspot last night and it say to call you guy (CS) and she asked me if i was sure if i wanted it i said yes! after i got off the phone i jumped on my verizon and unlimited ^-^

yeah what he said i never mentioned UNLIMITED when i asked for 4G mobile hotspot.

I'm going to call today and ask them to add it. IF they don't put unlimited on, I will just tell them that I think it's insane to have the hotspot without unlimited cause it will rip through my 4 gigs in less than a day. So I will tell them either to add the unlimited or remove it for me. Usually they will do something to get that extra 30.00. Then I will just delete it as some have said.

Again, I would not even mention that. Make sure you ask for the UNLIMITED 4G HOTSPOT. If they don't add unlimited data automatically, call back and tell them they did it improperly. Don't give them an opportunity to tell you why you can't have unlimited data.

I have a bionic and hotspot with 12 gig. I took the hotspot off. Called cs and told them that I wanted the unlimited hotspot. They said there is no such thing unless you are grandfathered. They offered me exactly what i have. The hotspot with dbl data.

According to CS there is no such thing as "unlimited" hotspot if you aren't grandfathered.
