[KERNEL] Kernel (deprimed_test) - Break It If You Can

I will post an update to deprimed tomorrow evening, I have been quite because my mother is up from Florida this weekend and I rarely see her.

I will also update the OP to include the full changelog, I have been taking a long look at the 3G issue and may have made some headway. My wife surprised me with a DroidX today (haven't received it yet) and being that it has gingerbread native (unofficially) I may be able to learn more about why it's happening on our Droid devices by way of hacking on it.

Don't worry about the X, I will continue doing the same level of Droid development I have been as the X does not have the ability to boot custom kernels.

Enjoy your time with your family bro...we only get one mom.

I'm glad to hear of your intentions of forging on with the D1...your work has kept me much more interested in this rom than I would be otherwise.

Curious...are you going to be doing any work for the Droid X at all?

There's not much you can do for the X because of the bootloader I believe.

I will be using kexec to bypass the bootloader on the X, I will run my own kernel :)

They never did get the radio working on kexec though did they?

I haven't followed the X kexec project, I will tackle it alone in my own way. Doing it this way my thoughts won't be tainted by others previous work.... will report how it turns out, I have years of experience with kexec and hope they simply missed something during initialization.

*edit*
If I make any progress I of course will share my methods, code, etc..etc. I'm not against working with a team and by 'tainted' I don't mean this in a derogatory way to the guys working on the kexec method for DroidX. Just recently a guy (zdzihu) bypassed the Sony Xperia X10 bootloader using kexec, he has working 3G/Wifi and bluetooth I believe....proof this can be done using kexec. - (XDA Link) http://bit.ly/frOb8d

My mother left a bit ago, nice visit... feeling pretty good. Expect that deprimed update tonight.

When it sounded like kexec was becoming a viable option on the DX, I had a conversation with MrBirdman. He said that from his time on the device, the DX had some security protecting that radio. He also said that the security on the radio would probably prevent kexec from fully working. I may of misunderstood him or had forgotten/confused something since that conversation, but I'm pretty sure that is what he said :P Good luck with it, as it would be really cool if you could get kexec working, but I nor anyone else should get their hopes up.

I don't have high hopes, the X is a hell of a device as is.. no worries either way.

Oh yeah, the X surely is. I've been tempted to grab one several times, but I'm still forcing myself to hold out just a little longer with the D1. I know something will come along that I will have no regrets picking up.

I am also waiting patiently for something dual core with a 4+ inch display as my next dev phone... hopefully the next dev phone that's released (no samsung for me... blec).

*note*
if P3Droid is correct the dev phones may be the only android device worth owning sooner than later

Samsung would have to do something pretty special to get me to buy one. HTC or Motorola are the only android phones I'd consider buying anymore, HTC being the first choice.

htc devices have a cheaper *feel than a comparable motorola in my opinion... but I like them nonetheless.
