LauncherPro Beta (SUPER FAST & SMOOTH Launcher!)

How many people having problems are using live wall papers. When I installed the new froyo (84b) I noticed how fast it was. When I reinstalled my live wall paper is slowed it down. I went and installed backgrounds app from the market and I have a nice quality still wallpaper. My phone looks nice and performs like it should.
Other than for show off purposes, what is the point of a lwp. It slows down your phone and burns battery life. If you wanna show it off install it to show off and go back.
Ever since I removed my lwp my entire phone is different. LP works great, the home launcher works great, I have better battery life, things load faster. Do yourself a favor and ditch the lwp for everyday use.
I had an advantage, being rooted, to get 2.1 and lwps early so it already ran its course for me.....so I understand if you hesitant, but I think alot of the lp problems people are having have to do with the lwps taking alot of the memory needed for other things including using lp.

Yes, live walls just take too much memory for our phones. I was using beautiful live wallpaper for a time but stooped using it since my phone worked so much better without it. Our droids don't have enough memory

The ability to backup is very cool. Too bad it doesn't work for widgets, that's most of what i have on my screens.

The new v0.6.6 version of LauncherPro Beta is now available on the Android Market and it brings some highly requested features!
Here’s what’s new:
- The dock notifications have been disabled by default. They were causing delays when returning to LauncherPro from another app.
- Improved code to reduce delays when returning to LauncherPro from other apps when dock notifications are on.
- Enabled notifications when using custom icons for Handcent SMS, CompSMS, Stock HTC phone, and HTC Call History shortcuts.
- New: Gmail dock notifications. They should work with both custom icons and the LauncherPro Gmail icon. Option to choose from multiple Gmail accounts will come in a future update.
- New option to have only one homescreen (Preferences > Homescreen Settings)
- New option for Home key action. You can set your phone’s Home button to either do nothing, show screen previews, open the app drawer, open notifications, or show/hide the status bar. There’s still the option to have it take you to your default screen if you’re not in it instead of triggering the selected action. This also means that you can now disable screen previews when pressing the home key.
- New: options to backup and restore your LauncherPro setup. This includes your settings, homescreen icons, and dock setup. Due to limitations in the Android system, we cannot properly backup widgets, so these will show “Problem loading widget” when you restore them. You’ll need to manually re-add your widgets.

Most incredible Launcher ever. I just hope I don't get this issue as much on the new version... When using LauncherPro, after doing some stuff like surfing the net or some other memory intensive app, when I hit the home button it is super slow loading back up as if it had to restart. I tried "keep in memory" and not and it happens either way.

Same here. I had a bit of trouble getting the weather back on Beautiful Widgets, but I found the option. Maybe overclocking would help, but on stock it's working nicely.
I want it to be as smooth and battery-efficient as possible for ComicCon. This is the first time I've taken a smart phone to the con. While cell strength at the San Diego Convention Center is superb, I don't know about WiFi. Evidently it has to be requested to be activated. I'm pretty sure it will be.

Yeah I am getting the same thing. I use Widget Locker and have Pandora and a few other widgets on there, and anytime I do something and then hit home it takes it a bit got get back to my home screen. When I get home tonight I am going to try taking WL off to see if it still happens. For me at least it doesn’t seem like these two apps like to play nicely together.
