Leaked FRG22 Update Available for Rooted Droid 1

P3,

Awesome job!

I knew it would be something simple to correct with VS...

Reinstalled the deo'd version, Vs works ok, and now reinstalling the LV 1000 kernal.

Question, if I had the deodexed version, and installed the non deodexed, will it go in over the top as well, and would that free up space on the device? (I don't make use of those files, just a user ....)

Likewise, now works for me as well! I had the original deodexed file installed when it was released late last night/early am..new one fixes it.

Great job!

EDIT: It worked but as soon as the new 928BlackGlass Theme is installed, it breaks it again. Will have to send a note to have him correct it.

this has been some good reading lol. Good job CZ and P3droid. Just waiting on sapphire 1.0.

ZOMG! Lol I really don't think anyone will notice a big difference between the builds. And there is always this possibility too, so please remember it. A later build number just means it was built after the released version. It is quite possible that they found issues with FRG22 that were not emerging in FRG01B (the earlier build). Since they are all built from the same source its safe to say its drivers that are different....and the released version may have the best set. P3Droid and MDW like to jump the gun on a lot of things without really knowing what they are digging into, like telling everyone that the droidx efuse was going to brick your devices if you hacked the phone - you talking out the side of your ass.I got lots of respect for these guys - your compliment, but I wonder at times like this if their newest release is really the latest and greatest.....or just the latest.

I really appreciate the compliment but at the same time you are talking out the side of your neck. You do not know, nor will know what I heard/read before I posted. You are merely repeating what you have heard others say about what is or is not present in the DroidX. Now that is settled.

As far as how and why certain releases are picked and others are not, we do not have the time to spend going over it with you, FRG22 runs better than FRG01B, its smoother and faster, the drivers are the same but the underlying OS has been changed hence the build difference.

How about you just don't flash it, and leave your negativity to another thread.

I purchased root explorer just for this and tried it on several ROMs - works every time!
No need to buy anything.
Just use the update.zip I created for it.
Disable stagefright: FRG22_Disable_stagefright-update.zip
Re-enable stagefright: FRG22_Re-enable_stagefright-update.zip

will that work on 01b too?
Well I used the build.prop from FRG22 so I wouldn't do it.
It'll end up confusing you on which version you have installed.
Also I don't what the difference between the 2 besides the market and build info.
Why not just use FRG22?

I can also confirm voice search does not work with the widget. I'm going to try and swap some files around and see if I get anywhere. Any devs/modders want to join in, feel free. The more heads we have working on this, the better.

Not sure if this has been answered but I found when the Voicesearch.apk is deodexed it causes problems. I am building my ROM now with a different voice search file to see if it works.

mainly b/c i'll likely be sticking with sapphire 1.0 when it's released, and unless something changes, he'll be basing off of 01b

I gotta tell ya, since flashing FRG22...I have NEVER...and I mean NEVER had as strong of a WiFi Lock as I have now...and that goes for every variation of Stock and Custom ROM versions since November of 2009!!

Don't know what whoever did, but that alone is worth it. I live in an underground house on 9 acres so my my 3G and WiFi is usually spotty (Access Point in Shop 100+ feet from "Concrete bunker"... and now, no matter where I am inside I have a WiFi lock for the FIRST TIME!!

Thanks again to everyone for this version!!

OH, this is with the "stock" kernel provider with FRG22.

So, the official FRG01B update dropped for all Droid 1 phones. So now it is safe to say that the playing field has finally been leveled that between those rooted and those running stock? Not so fast, stockers. MyDroidWorld has just leaked FRG22, which is an updated 2.2 build for the Motorola Droid. We are not sure what exactly has changed, but for better or worse, this version is newer than the FRG01b OTA that just dropped! Check it out, and let us know your thoughts.

Below you will find download links and directions to install the latest update leak:

1) Download the files:

Direct Download -----Release Version (FRG22)
Mirror One ----- Release Version (FRG22)
Non-Deodexed Version ----- Release Version (FRG22)

2) Place files on the root of your SD
3) Go into your Recovery
4) Clockwork Directions: go to install zip, find the zip on your sd card, and install
SPrecovery Directions: go to install zip, select allow update.zips (deprecated), install update.zip
5) Reboot your phone.

THANKS to CellZealot, Andrew, and P3Droid

Thanks for the post. I was starting to get settled, but I knew it wouldn't last long ;). Time to backup and flash!

Now for some seriousness...hopefully these comments will be read by those it will make the most impact to.

The biggest benefit of running a custom recovery is so you can take a FULL ROM BACKUP of your existing setup and try new things, and you can always flash back to your recovery if you don't like it.

I'm sick of questions like "So I am running <insert rom here> and if I apply this will I have to wipe?, or will it mess up my theme?"

FFS just try it!!!! Then post your findings.:work3:

Sorry, for the rant, but every now and then I just gotta dance. :icon_ banana:

That's interesting - that alone tempts me to use 22 even more as I've had spotty wifi since doing ANYthing 2.2. Editing the build.prop helped (time between scans), but still hasn't been great.

Once it's out just PM me the link and I'll create one for you.

No Market Downloads?

Is anyone having trouble downloading from Market? I keep getting application failed to download.

I have been rocking this since late last night. I have to agree with 928Droid, this build is extremely fast. I am running this with P3's LV 1200mhz kernel and it flies. I also have Black Glass running but not the latest build for this rom, i am loading that now. This is the only rom that opens up Launcher Pro with 7 screens without any lag. That is going from sleep to awake or opening and closing apps and yes i have widgets on all 7 screens.

Thanks P#, MDW and anyone else that was involved in bringing this version of Froyo to light.

Does this remind any previous BB owners of the Storm days and newly leaked OSs?

I Love my Moto Droid 1!!!!!
