Could anyone explain the difference between Deodexed and non-deodexed? and why you would choose one over the other?

If you click on the first link (original) it says downloading deodexed. So I think they all are deodexed.

My understanding of it is when it is deodexed it makes it rooted and ready for custom rom installment. Beyond that, I don't know.

I do know that I think this word was recently invented because it keeps coming up on my spell check.

Hook, first two downloads in the OP (direct and mirror) are deodexed. Third is non-deodexed. I go with "non", for totally superstitious "keep-me-as-close-to-source-as possible" reasons!

OK…I thought the third was deodexed and the others weren't. It's all a new word really, I've just seen it come up last week or two.

Not sure how or why but i had to deodex it to get it to work correctly for me as well.

Let me know if its not fixed for you.

Does that mean we have to download the deodexed version to avoid the voice search FC, or simply that you had to deodex the non-deodexed version in order to fix it? I'm assuming the latter, but want to make sure, just b/c I'm anal.

De-odex: Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.

Just installed this. I am very happy with it already. I have much better boot in times from the previous Froyo build (FRF84B). Once thing I noticed was when the Droid aninmation pops up when you first boot it it runs smoother and faster. Before it would go very slow. Also the load time is down to about a minute ten seconds, compared to the 2-3 minutes before.

It seemed no matter what I tried I could not get it to run like it should. I have rebooted the new version a couple of times and I no longer get the "Process System is not responding" message after I first get loaded in.

Thanks for posting this, it has helped a bunch! Phone feels just as snappy as I remembered it.

I am the one who gets these files and releases them to P3Droid.

We take care wherever necessary to protect the original sources at Motorola.

Most people have no idea at all how these things come about and it's probably best that way, despite the disturbing lack of appreciation that results from that obscurity.

CZ, what you provide to this community is awesome and greatly appreciated... but how can we not be extremely curious when, the same day as the "final" froyo release is out, another leak is released? It would be nice to know at least a little bit as to why that's the case, even if it's an extremely ambiguous answer!

Truthfully, it was an attempt to keep us rooted users one step ahead. Non root received FRG01B - which we already had - and rooted users get FRG22.

It is also intended for the themers and developers to have the newest to work with and to build off of, to help the community grow.

That is the ultimate goal.

I want to thank both of you guys personally for not only getting us these Leaks...BUT more importantly for leaving them "PURE" and not making decisions to take this file or that file out (or add crap in) ...makes my Theming life a lot easier to know I have the EXACT files in the release..nothing more and more specifically nothing less.. THANKS!!!!!!!

FYI, it was also a joy to Theme a ROM that had all the correct "Froyo" file names....and not a mismatch of those names (or even double/triple versions of apks named differently...:icon_eek:

I just tried to install this. After the reboot, it goes to the flashing droid eye, and then enters an endless loop - like it reboots over and over. Not sure what's happening.

Coming from rooted 2.1

I have to Choose “Wipe data/factory reset” and “Wipe cache partition” if I am coming from a clean rooted 2.1 rom correct?

Are you coming from 2.2 already?
I just applied the updated over the previous Froyo version and it came up with no problems.

I am using the deodexed version.....I can try installing it again to see what happens....will report back.
