Leaked FRG22 Update Available for Rooted Droid 1

How's everyone's battery life?

With the announcement that the official OTA has been suspended, and a new build in progress that is not FRG22, I'm somewhat concerned.

Will watch my batt life after a good charge this evening.

VERY bad....worst I've ever seen it AND I wasn't even clocked at my usual 1250.

Wiped and back on previous set-up....

I came from 01B and didn't wipe anything. So far so good. Real good, my cpu temp (Chevy's LV 1.2) has been sitting at 64 degrees (F) at idle. The thing feels like an ice cube, which I like. No redraws and everything has been very snappy. dancedroid

great...this concerns me a lot, for me, if battery life sucks then I feel like I can't really enjoy my droid cause I'm always watching the battery meter! hopefully battery life isn't as bad as some are making it out to be!

I am the same way as you djhuang. If I even hear about battery life being poor, I can't stop checking the battery meter. I have been running this since this morning. 2 hours after unplugging from AC charger I am down to 70%. However, this was with very heavy use (screen on the whole time, surfing, downloading...) and setcpu max set to 800. I will keep an eye on it.

I am getting better battery life than FRG22 build. Have been contitinuouslu using for 5 hrs heavy browsing texting apps downloading still 60% battery left. This is with 800 mhz kernel

Do you mean you are getting better battery life with FRG22 or with your previous builld?

Stock Droid.....

most of my 9 hour work days I come home with 70% of my battery left. I updated to 2.2 last night and just got home, normal day and my batt is at 50%.

I don't know if Verizon had an issue with phone mail today, but I couldn't dail *86 for a few hours today. It works fine now. At the time I had no other issues with making calls, just phone mail.

I'm now running with P3's 1.2 ghz LV kernel and this is the snappiest my D1 has ever been! Thanks again for all your work cellzealot and p3droid!!!!!

So I am dizzy and thoroughly confused with all the files going around here. I am running stock 2.1 and think I should root because after 2.2 comes out, I am told it might be impossible to root after installing. SO, I am looking to root. Should I install SPRecovery and then install FRG22 in order to root or do it another way? Is FRG22 safe to install or not? I am hearing conflicting viewpoints. Some people say they are fine and others say they are having problems. What should I do?

If you want to root, root now. There's no point in putting it off because it might not be possible later. Any of the ROMs/updates/whatever (barring the leaked DMUpdater, which is no longer linked to anyway) you'll find in the news section are safe as long as your Droid doesn't have an unknown condition or fault. What's not safe is the procedure for rooting. Even the one-touch methods might damage your phone. The risk is minimal as long as you know what you're doing, however, and FRG22 is as good as any other ROM to start your rooting experience on. In fact, the stock look, feel, and experience might make the transition easier on you.
