This is all too reminiscent of hacking the Storm up to new unofficial releases.

While I am certainly anxious for the update, I think I can wait a few more days to get it OTA.

tried to install one time and it wouldn't work...downloaded the file from phonearena already renamed and it is working now....i think it had to do with hid file extensions so I had it named update.zip.zip..stoopid me

and lol at how easy it is to update this phone...another fellow storm abandonee who remembers the painstaking process of updating every little update to find no new features or problems fixed lol

if it's downloading as folders (which should only be google chrome) there have been past threads on how to make it not do that. If your not using google chrome then chances are it's not really a folder, it's just the zip file that you are able to access.

Just drop the folder in the SD-Card by itself

oh yea im using win 7...dont know if that matters or not...

in other news...love the new lock screen and the new music/power widgets look 20xxxxxxx better :icon_ banana:

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE .ZIP

For 99% of users, just download the file, rename it "Update" and move it. The .zip is redundant and as long as the file icon still shows a zip file, it will work.

Didn't work for me it keeps saying no such file.

did you rename the file to update.zip ? and have it on the top level of the SD card?

I tried the install this morning, downloaded it to my computer, plugged my phone into the USB on the computer, renamed the file then put it into the root directory of the SD Card. Powered it off, did the steps to come on. I saw the update.zip file in there, scrolled down to it and it says it failed after it appears to be unzipping it. So, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong either. Sure a lot less steps than installing leaked updates on the Storm! But, if only it would work for me.

Check if your file is named update.zip.zip

Now, should we keep the update.zip file on the SD card? It's 10mb. It didn't delete it after updating

I'm wondering if we delete it, will Verizon come along and think we need to update again?

I imagine what you are seeing are the contents of the rar file...it's like you've opened it. You need to figure out how to just download the file without opening it.

Name the file Update ONLY. Don't worry about the .zip. It's screwing a lot of people up. The file should automatically end in .zip, and if you rename it that it will be update.zip.zip even if it doesn't show upt like that. Name it update and it will work.
