Manually Update to 2.0.1

Just attempted the update. I downloaded the file (seems it's a folder with a bunch of files in it?), renamed it to update.zip, went through everything but once I selected the update I get an error:

E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package..
Veryifying update package...
E:failed to read footer from /sdcard/update.zip
(Is a directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Any ideas?

I'm just curious where this file comes from? Is the the same exact file that gets pushed out from verizon and someone just grabbed it off before updating? Or did someone repackage this themselves? Either way, how can we be sure that malicious code wasn't embedded in it? Reading how many people say it works I'm not worried about it screwing up my phone. I'm just concerned about the authenticity of the file.

I think someone posted in the 30s pages of this thread.
The user posted the domain and all the information of the link.
It indeed confirmed the link was directly from google.

i'm getting a triangle with an exclamation mark... yellow lettering message states can't open /cache/recovery/command

when i go to install error comes in list and aborted.

I tried zip and no zip extension

any ideas

Yeah, its supposed to be a zip file with files inside of it.
If you have vista your computer might be hiding the file extensions from you so you might have named the file update.zip when the file is already a zip file.

Try naming the file just "update" and then running the update. :)

If you look at the download link, its comes off of googles site.

Check if your file is named update.zip.zip

Checked, it's names update.zip.

Is the original file supposed to be a folder with other files in it? That's what I got when I downloaded it.

Thanks.

If people are downloading it with their phones now, it will go to the download directory.. you have to move it to the root directory so its not in a folder.
Also, if your downloading it with your computer and your computer is not set to view extensions.. you will not see the .zip at the end of the file you downloaded which will make it easy for you to name it "update.zip.zip" if your not careful which will make it invisible to the install process since it will only recognize a file called "update.zip"
