MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

Yes, you are supposed to be able do the ota when it becomes available.

Fred, have you done a factory data reset any time after GB. If not, it may be the one thing that will dramatically improve your battery life.

EDIT: FOR CLARIFICATION.... IF YOU ARE STOCK ICS .215 THEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO UPDATE TO THE OTA PATCH. If you are rooted, then you will have to return to stock to be able to apply the update.

Thank you for the welcome. No, not using smart actions fir the battery extender. I was Hoping to get back old battery life with out having to do anything different. But i will try the extender

Definitely try using the battery extender, long press and delete the turn off GPS and motion rules

I think it understood because it is common knowledge your system has to be stock to do an update, but he does mention in the post in bright red that you need to be on stock ICS to do the update.

Hopefully people that have a ROM do enough research and reading before they do something like this and make sure their system is stock and in working order before doing something like this.

LOL this is why I posted..Hope doesn't mean they will. Anything I can do to prevent something I try to be there...Thanks.

Oh yeah, lot easier to warn someone than to fix a bricked phone.

DROID RAZR/ICS215

Well, here I am on a Saturday morning. Family still in bed and I'm watching the Olympics. WTH, might as well play with my phone and read some forum news.

What's this? Another update? Ummm, might as well give it a whirl.

Read part of the thread, yes, I'm on .214. Let's see need to go back to .211. Download zip file to downgrade, download zip file for .215. Follow instructions for both. Run zip files in order. Wow!! No issues at all. This is great. Now to play around and see what this update does.

Thanks for such clear instructions for us who really don't understand what we are doing.

Yes did fdr before installing .215. Would it make a difference to do after installing .215 its a real pain in the arse to set everything back up and it didn't make a difference the first time...thoughts?

It may make a difference and probably will. It is sort of a pain but not so bad if you did one recently. You may want to start with just going into recovery and clear cache to see if that helps.

I have a 630 mile drive home tomorrow and my roadtrip will be complete... its not like anyone missed me anyway :)

This may have been too late to ask (i will soon find out, it is currently updating) but should we have Enabled all the disabled apps before we applied the update? and just to confirm, i can revert back to 211 right? (to receive the offcial 215 or another OTA)

In answer to your first question, it's always recommended that you re-enable all applications before progressing to any update. That said, if the apps in question were disabled in ICS, using the stock application management tool, you may be alright. We'll know for sure soon. You are now our "canary in a coal mine".

As for number two, my understanding is that the .211 Fastboot that was released will get you back to .211. For what it's worth, I see no benefit to .211 over .215, and quite the contrary. .215 had been the most stable of all versions, having given me absolutely no problems whatsoever.
