MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

No such thing as a stupid question if you don't know the answer :)

Failsafe files are for people who were getting computer errors and such when running the program, such as people who don't have administrator permissions on their computer where the utility requires it to run.

Ah! I understand now. Thanks

From the 1.81 util just so im clear on it,

I want to do option 2, then option 3 (or get it from play store), then option 4 for bootstrap. Then set up voodoo and what ever else i plan to do.

as a side note what does bootstrap even do?

So is this ^^^ the order I want to go in?

Yea never mind I got it. Officially rooted.

Is option 1 on the 1.8 util what is used to unroot?
and
Can I do a FDR while rooted without doing anything special to the root first? Or will an FDR undo the root.

Thanks for the help Matty and everyone else here, makes this all so much easier.

Wow, sakana! You go girl! Yes, you can do an fdr now and you will keep root! And you can use Titanium Backup now to backup everything before your fdr!

Option 1 returns you to complete stock .211 ("Out of the box .211")

I'm not really sure if an FDR will undo the root, but if it does, just hook it up to the PC and run option 2 ... simple as that. :)

LMAO ... I may never let Tis live that one down. Male or female, glad you got it going. Rooting is so easy these days, much easier than the first time I did it before they had "one click" methods and utilities.

Ok boys and girls ... when you open TB it will request Superuser Permissions, make sure the "Remember" box is checked and tap "Allow"

At the top are 3 buttons, "Overview", "Backup/Restore", and "Schedules"

Backup lists all your apps and services installed on the phone. If you want to "freeze" and app, tap the app and a menu will appear, then tap "freeze!" If you want to "defrost" the app, simply tap the app and then tap "defrost" There are several lists of what is safe to freeze, but BE CAREFUL!!! Don't just go freezing willy nilly.

The "schedules" button allows you to schedule things like backups of your apps. TB has a backup folder on your phone where it stores everything.

At the top right (under your clock) you will see a little page with a check mark. That is for "batch" operations, you can go in there and run "back up all user apps and system data" and it will back everything up for you. If for any reason you need to restore all your apps and data, that is done from there also.

You can also "power defrost" all the frozen apps, like when it comes time for an update and you need to defrost them. Then after an update, you would have to go back in and freeze them again.

Any questions? :p

Sooo..I disabled a few apps with ics earlier...do i need to enable them (or whatever it's called)

Yes dear ... just to be safe I would. Go into System Settings, then Apps, and tap the "All" tab ... scroll all the way to the bottom, that's where you will find the apps you disabled (it will say "disabled" on the right. Tap the app, then tap "enable"

If ya have any questions just ask. :)
